About St Elizabeth’s College
Set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, St Elizabeth’s Centre is a national charity supporting children, young people, and adults with complex needs. Our College supports young people aged 19–25 with a wide range of learning difficulties, disabilities, and health conditions, including epilepsy and autism.

We provide bespoke education and transition support that equips our learners with the skills, confidence, and independence they need for adulthood. It’s a calm, structured, and aspirational environment where meaningful learning takes place every day.

We are proud to be a values-led organisation — aspirational, collaborative, joyful, and compassionate — and we’re looking for a talented lecturer who shares our commitment to helping young people live life to the full.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and creative College Lecturer to join our team, supporting young adults aged 19 to 25 with complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our learners by equipping them with essential life skills to prepare for independent adulthood and active community participation.

As part of our dynamic and supportive SEND department, you will design and deliver a personalised and inclusive curriculum tailored to the individual needs of each student. The focus will be on developing practical skills for daily living, communication, social interaction, and community engagement.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons focused on life skills (e.g. cooking, personal care, travel training, money management, communication, and accessing community resources).
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with a team of support staff, therapists, and families to develop and implement individual learning plans.
  • Monitor and record student progress using appropriate assessment tools.
  • Promote learner independence, self-confidence, and self-advocacy.
  • Support learners in real-life settings, including trips into the community.

About You

You’re a committed educator with a flexible and person-centred approach. You understand that success for our learners looks different, and you celebrate every step of the journey.

  • Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and highly adaptable.
  • Skilled in delivering person-centred, differentiated teaching.
  • Confident in managing a diverse classroom environment with a variety of learning needs.

Why Join St Elizabeth’s?

  • A supportive and inclusive team culture
  • 38days annual leave
  • Structured induction, training, and CPD tailored to SEN and post-16 education
  • Enhanced DBS paid for by us
  • Free on-site parking and beautiful countryside setting
  • Access to the wellbeing platform, discounts, and staff benefits
  • Recommend a Friend bonus scheme
