Birmingham Forward Steps is a citywide service delivered collaboratively by Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust working alongside Barnardo's and other voluntary organisations.  The service operates across 10 districts and Barnardo's directly manages 4 of those districts.  This commissioned service is designed for children and their parents/ carers from shortly before birth up to the age of five and provides accessible, community-based services for families with pre-school children through Family Hubs/Children's Centres, their own homes and a number of other community venues.

We are looking to recruit a full time - 36.25 hours per week - Fixed Term Data Officer for maternity leave cover until January 2027, to provide support for the service in managing the data functions as per contractual and organisational requirements.

Please note that this is a locality based role, and frequent on site presence will be required, along with travel within the Birmingham area.  It will not be possible to undertake this role on a virtual/remote basis.  

Duties will include:

  • To be responsible for developing and implementing systems of collecting, analysing and reporting data across the service ensuring the systems meet the evolving needs of the service.
  • To lead on the usage of management information and information recording systems
  • To compile reports as required
  • To support the compilation, submission and quality assurance of data
  • To monitor progress of KPI's and liaise with managers/teams accordingly
  • To lead on Data Protection/GDPR for the service overseeing governance and data sharing

The successful candidate must have/be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent IT skills particularly in the use of databases and MS applications
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Substantial knowledge of GDPR, data protection and compliance
  • Well-developed numeracy and literacy skills at a level to perform moderately difficult calculations and produce reports.
  • Excellent organisational skills

This role will require you to travel independently across the service therefore you must be flexible and adaptable, particularly in relation to working hours and location.
