PE EDUCATION SUPPORT WORKER

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people with additional needs? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Education Support Worker to join the PE team at Shaftesbury Victoria School in Poole, Dorset.

As an Education Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in the lives of our students, supporting their daily activities, educational needs, and personal development. You will work with a close-knit team including teachers, therapists and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.

As a PE Education Support Worker, you will:

  • Assist with the delivery of PE and swimming lessons across all curriculum pathways.
  • Support students in a range of activities, including adapted sport, therapy-based physical activities, and enrichment clubs.
  • Prepare and maintain PE equipment and resources, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Provide personal care and support during swimming, hydrotherapy, and PE lessons (including moving and handling, feeding, and changing).
  • Establish good working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Promote and reinforce students’ self-esteem, social development and independence, encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities.
  • Support extra-curricular clubs, school sports events, and trips, both within and beyond the school.

Victoria School, part of the Shaftesbury charity, is an all-through school providing specialist education to children and young people aged 3-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
