We are looking to recruit supportive and caring individuals with a passion for helping people in need, to deliver non-clinical mental health and wellbeing support at Derbyshire Mind’s new Crisis Support Drop-In service in Swadlincote!

Derbyshire Mind’s Crisis Support Drop-In services are friendly & supportive non-clinical crisis services for adults who self-define as needing immediate help with their mental health or emotional wellbeing. Located in Buxton, Ripley and Swadlincote, the services offer out-of-hours mental health help, support and signposting in a relaxed and comfortable community environment. The services will be open on Friday evenings, Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, all year round.

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and resilient mental health support workers to join our friendly supportive team and to help deliver this vital service to local people. This will include providing support to people who may be experiencing, or may otherwise experience, a mental health crisis. This includes offering a listening ear along with structured support to develop a wellbeing plan and signposting advice.

The Role

Role:  Support Worker: Crisis Support Drop-In Services Buxton, Ripley & Swadlincote

Hours: Casual Hours. Shift based

Salary: Hourly pay rate, currently £12.21 per hour (with an additional 14.54% in lieu of annual leave)

Contract: Fixed term contract until end of March 2026, with potential for ongoing contract extensions.

Location: Site specific

Job Purpose: The Bank Support Worker role is to be a key member of the team delivering the Crisis Support Drop-In service on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, alongside our core Support Workers and Peer Support Volunteers. Support and Bank Support Workers are responsible for providing on-to-one and group support to attendees in an empathetic, non-judgemental, person-centred manner. Support Workers will also share the role of Shift Leader each week.

Please note, these roles are to provide cover at Swadlincote, Ripley and Buxton. CSDI Bank Support Workers are engaged on a “flexible location” basis, so the ability to travel to and from sites is required for this role.

Working Pattern: Worked over Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons, on a shift-by-shift basis. Flexible working, according to the service needs and the need to cover any gaps in the rota is the primary role of our Bank Support Worker Team. Services run year-round so the service includes public holiday working.
