Technical Field Manager, Iraq
The starting salary package for this position is £74,356 GBP / approx. $97,500 USD including all allowances.
About the role:
Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of locally recruited staff to safely implement our life saving IED, mine and BAC clearance and EOD projects. You must be willing to lead from the front, responsible for the day-to-day management of our technical teams and being involved in all aspects of MAG’s lifesaving work, including administration, team cashbooks, procurement of equipment, representation of MAG to local communities and Government, operational planning and reporting. Conducting training, and day to day assessment of all staff conducting technical operations is a core area of this role, to ensure safe practice and local capacity building. Roles are in remote areas, working in challenging contexts away from home comforts, but the life-saving impact the work has on local communities is very real.
About you:
You must be qualified to IMAS EOD 3 and IMAS EOD 3 IEDD (or equivalent) with previous experience in the operational management and clearance in conventional minefields, BAC, IED clearance and integrated mechanical land release. Previous experience of working in building search and clearance is also essential. You will need excellent diplomacy and liaison skills to effectively build relationships with our national partners and authorities. You must have excellent people management skills with a proven track record of leading, motivating, and managing a diverse team of people. You will also have the ability to contribute technical knowledge and clearance targets in proposals and reports and demonstrate a proven track record of delivering training and capacity building of locally recruited staff.
Fluent written and spoken English language skills are essential, whilst local language skills, such as Arabic or Kurdish would be desirable.
About the Iraq programme:
Following decades of conflict, Iraq is heavily contaminated with landmines and other unexploded ordnance (UXO). MAG has been working in Iraq since 1992 with our Head Office in Erbil and operational bases across northern Iraq. By clearing hazardous areas, MAG has enabled new schools, roads, and hospitals to be built, opened up vital trade routes and allowed communities to use their farming land in safety, giving them greater food security and an escape from poverty.

- Salary:£74,356 per annum including all allowancesand this increases with service.
- Accommodation:MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
- Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year.
- Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year
- Insurance: Programme based staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance.
