A higher education qualification or equivalent e.g. NVQ Level 3, degree Experience (this could be paid or volunteering) Considerable experience of working with domestic abuse and an understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on partners and their children. Experience of working with perpetrators of domestic abuse in one-to- one sessions and/or group work Experience of applying and undertaking risk assessment procedures and delivering a service in line with them. Experience of assessing clients and developing targeted intervention plans to meet the individual needs of clients. Experience of working in partnership with a range of other statutory and voluntary services. Experience of managing a caseload of clients. Proven track record of successful engagement with statutory organisations and stakeholders Knowledge and Skills Knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges faced by professionals engaged in working with families, including perpetrators, in relation to domestic abuse Knowledge of civil, criminal and other relevant legislation with regard to domestic abuse. Knowledge of the legal framework relating to the protection of children including the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board. An understanding of why men and women use abusive behaviours towards their partners and the range of models used in addressing this behaviour. An understanding of the risks posed from perpetrators of domestic abuse. An awareness and understanding of diversity. Commitment to anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive working.
