Emmaus Merseyside is recruiting for a new Support Worker to help people who have experienced homelessness achieve their goals and progress in their lives.
As a Support Worker at Emmaus Merseyside, you will play a key role in helping companions (the people we support) move forward with their lives by offering tailored support, encouragement, and access to services that promote independence and wellbeing, with the end goal of moving people towards their goals and back into independent living.
Day to day, you’ll be supporting companions with a wide range of needs, from practical tasks and appointments to emotional support and helping them engage with opportunities for training, volunteering, and employment, as well as formal support sessions and documenting progress. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of our community services, such as our social enterprise, the community Hub, and our growing community garden project.
This role offers the chance to make a direct difference in people’s lives, while also being part of a supportive, close-knit team. To succeed, you will need strong communication and organisational skills, resilience, and a compassionate, person-centred approach to working with individuals who may face complex challenges. The rewards of this role are huge – seeing companions grow in confidence and achieve their goals is at the heart of what makes working at Emmaus Merseyside so special.
Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that offers a home, individual support, education, training and work opportunities to people who have experienced homelessness. We don’t just give people a bed for the night; our support is longer-term. Working together, we give people stability, confidence, new experiences and life-changing opportunities.
At the heart of Emmaus Merseyside are our companions – the people we support. Our charity’s main focus is on providing people with a stable home and tailored support to unlock options for a better future. Living in a stable environment with the opportunity to contribute to society has a really beneficial impact on our companions.
No one’s life should be defined by homelessness. Together, we support people to put their lives back on track and build a better future. We see the person, their strengths, and the future they want to create. Building on each person’s abilities, Emmaus offers skills and work opportunities with a home and place to belong – we’re there at every step of their journey out of homelessness.
