Summary of Role:
Woldingham are seeking to appoint an inspirational Head of Netball from January 2025 to develop and deliver an
exceptional and forward-thinking sports programmes for pupils.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the next phase of development in terms of netball and
school sport within the community.
The postholder will have a strong commitment to sporting excellence, ensuring that our pupil athletes achieve
their maximum potential. Alongside this, they will play a fundamental role in promoting a culture of inclusivity
and belonging within sport and netball for all pupils and staff.
We are looking for full time commitment and there will be a requirement to contribute to our extensive Saturday
fixture provision, as well as tours and pre-season camps as appropriate.

Specific Responsibilities:

1.  To teach classes within Games afternoons as allocated by the Director of Sport.
2.  To take responsibility for, and contribute to, the coaching of netball teams within the school. This will

include Saturday matches alongside weekly games/training sessions

3.  Ensure that netball coaching is consistently excellent, that staff are well-prepared with coaching plans
and that standards are appropriately high via professional development, careful planning, quality
assurance and accountability, taking into account the latest developments happening within the sport

4.  Efficiently and effectively coordinating a comprehensive programme of training and fixtures which
maximises the opportunities for all pupils to represent the school, as well as organising entry into
national and county netball tournaments, as well as national cup competitions

5.  To ensure all pupils’ experiences, at any level, are positive and enjoyable.
6.  Overseeing the allocation of netball staffing, spaces, facilities and kit, and the departmental budget,

ensuring the most effective use of school resources

7.  Organising transport for netball teams and working with the catering manager, organising hospitality for

staff and parents on match days, and co-ordinating teas and lunches

8.  Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety and risk assessment across all aspects

of the netball programme

9.  Representing the department throughout the school and beyond, including at open days/evenings and

induction events

10. Developing links with schools, clubs and other external organisations locally, nationally and

internationally, fostering a culture of positive engagement with parents, alumni and other external
stakeholders

11. Manage the netball staff and external coaches, ensuring the effective communication of training and

fixture information to pupils and the school community

12. Lead in the delivery of a comprehensive off-season and pre-season programme for all netballers.

13. To communicate with pupils and parents on important issues such as team selection and playing/training

commitments

14. To attend Open Mornings and other associated events, as required in support of the marketing of the

Sports provision.

15. To maximise the School’s outreach potential, looking specifically at links with local schools, clubs and

pathways.

17. To contribute to the GCSE PE programme on either theory or practical components as required by the

Director of Sport

18. To communicate with pupils, staff and parents with regards to netball related queries and the weekly

publication of results including contributions to the school website

19. To contribute to the Woldingham Sports Scholars programme – specifically monitoring individual pupils’

training/competing and work-life balances and offering support and advice where necessary.

20. Delivering sport trips and educational visits, including pre-season training and sports tours outside of

term time

21. To manage the netball budget, undertake regular equipment audits and ensure all equipment is safe and

fit for purpose.

22. In addition to netball leadership, the successful candidate will be expected to make a significant

contribution to the Games programme in the spring and summer terms through the coaching of hockey,
cricket, tennis and/or other sports.

23. To lead on the performance analysis of individuals and teams, using video analysis tools (Veo) to review

key performance indicators; provide players with feedback as appropriate

24. To undertake relevant mandatory and statutory training and development as required.
25. To administer basic First Aid, if required, and be willing to assist pupils.
26. To support the department’s work by contributing to initiatives and taking on such administrative

responsibilities which are reasonably allocated by the Director of Sport.

•  A well-qualified Teacher of PE
•  Strong coaching/playing background in netball.
•  Previous experience of working in a team and liaising with

all levels of staff

•  Fluent and accurate written and spoken English.
•  Excellent ICT Skills.
•  Ability to confidently umpire netball fixtures at all levels.
