Animation Dingle – Ireland’s Premiere Animation Festival is looking for passionate people interested in expanding their skillset and gaining experience in festival curation by joining the team as a volunteer film selector.

Animation Dingle – Ireland’s Premiere Animation Festival is looking for passionate people interested in expanding their skillset and gaining experience in festival curation by joining the team as a volunteer film selector.

Animation Dingle takes place every March in the picturesque town of Dingle, Kerry, Ireland. In 2026, it will take place from the 19th – 21st of March. Now in it’s 14th year, the 3-day event includes screenings, the Animation Dingle Conference, panels, workshops and much, much more.

  • Sectors will need to watch around 8 to 10 hours of films between October and December 2025

Role responsibilities
  • Watch films as assigned on FilmFreeway between October and December 2025.(approximately 8-10 hours of films)
  • Provide honest scoring on the films watched, and add written feedback, should you wish.

In return, volunteers will receive:

  • A Professional Pass to Animation Dingle 2026 (value €280), in which you can attend all three days of the festival, including the Animation Dingle Conference.
  • Programming credit in the Animation Dingle 2026 brochure
  • Experience in film programming and curation.
Person specifications

This role is particularly ideal for those working professionally in animation as well as filmmakers, curators, artists, recent graduates and those interested in festival programming and curation.

This role is not open for students currently enrolled in full-time education.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A strong passion for animation, particularly short form.
  • A clear understanding of the medium from a technical perspective.
  • Knowledge of wider film conventions such as cinematography, sound, direction and writing and be able to assess entries from this perspective.
  • Professional experience in animation is not a requirement, however it is a bonus.

All selectors must be able to commit to watching approximately 8-10 hours of short films between October-December 2025, and be able to work with a hard deadline.
