Job Description – Day Service Arts & Crafts Leader Reports to: Hours: Type: Salary: Day Services Manager Part and Full time positions available 9am – 4pm (38 weeks per year) Permanent Upto £14 per hour (DoE) The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Landmarks is an independent specialist college that supports young people with learning disabilities and difficulties. Within the college, our Lifelong Learning provision offers a day service for adults aged 16 and over. The programme focuses on fun, engaging, and sociable activities designed to help individuals develop essential life skills, including building independence, forming friendships and relationships, participating in the community, and leading a healthy, active lifestyle. We operates from several sites across; Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, with our main site located in Renishaw. Our staff are required to work on a range of different sites Job Purpose To plan and deliver engaging, inclusive arts and crafts sessions for learners within the Day Service provision. The Arts and Crafts Leader will inspire and motivate learners with SEND through creative, hands-on activities that promote self-expression, confidence, communication, wellbeing, and personal development. The role includes leading sessions, directing LSAs, and ensuring high-quality support. Main Responsibilities • Plan and deliver creative, purposeful arts and crafts sessions tailored to the needs, abilities, and interests of learners. • Prepare detailed session plans and maintain accurate learner records on Databridge. • Collaborate with LSAs to provide meaningful and inclusive learning experiences that promote creativity and skill development. • Manage and maintain arts and crafts materials, ensuring resources are safe, organised, and suitable for learner use. • Conduct risk assessments for all planned sessions, visits, and off-site creative activities. • Support learners during community-based or exhibition opportunities, encouraging independence and participation. Page 1 of 3 Job Description – Day Service Arts & Crafts Leader • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and active engagement in all sessions. • Assist learners with safe and efficient arrival and departure, ensuring wellbeing and safety at all times. • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity policies. • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and engage in ongoing professional development and training. • Provide personal care and medication support where required, promoting dignity and independence. • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating creativity, professionalism, and respect in all interactions. Person Specification The selection process will involve assessments being made on the extent to which applicants meet the criteria listed in the table below: Essential Desirable Qualifications Art-related qualification or equivalent experience. Relevant, recent training and development; Level 2 Maths and English (willingness to work towards); Team Teach training (willingness to work towards); Full UK driving license, with willingness to travel and use own vehicle. Experience Basic computer skills. Experience of working with adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities; Working within an Education environment; Knowledge Experience planning or delivering group activities or creative sessions. Commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity and health and safety at the college; Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality. Working with people with behavioural needs.
