Do you want to be part of an organisation that makes a real difference to our local communities? Our family of services including Herriot Hospice Homecare, Just ‘B’ and Saint Michael’s Hospice provide vital support to people when they need it most. Our vision is of a community where everyone gets the care they need, want and deserve, you can help make that a reality.

We are an independent charity powered by local communities. Every day, we help to improve quality of life for people living with terminal illness, bereavement and mental health concerns, because our belief is that no one should suffer. Our incredible teams work together to make this happen.

Are you a caring and compassionate nurse who wants to make a meaningful difference during one of life’s most sensitive times?

We’re looking for passionate Hospice Nurses to join our dedicated team here at the Lambert, where your kindness, empathy, and clinical expertise truly matter. At the heart of our patient-centred approach is a simple belief that every moment counts. Our mission is to deliver exceptional, personalised care that brings comfort, dignity, and support to patients nearing the end of life and to those who love them.

Your Role as a Hospice Nurse

As a Hospice Nurse, you’ll lead by example in delivering high-quality, holistic care within our welcoming inpatient unit. You’ll provide vital support not just to patients, but to families and colleagues helping to create an environment of trust, peace, and compassion.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments and develop tailored care plans
  • Manage shifts effectively, including patient admissions and discharges
  • Administer medication and manage symptoms to ensure comfort
  • Offer emotional support and gentle guidance to patients and families
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, therapists, and trained volunteers
  • Advocate respectfully for patients’ individual needs and preferences
  • Support families through grief and loss, offering education and compassionate care

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a nurse who is not only clinically skilled but also deeply compassionate, someone who sees hospice care as a vocation, not just a role.

Essential Criteria:

  • A valid nursing qualification and current NMC registration
  • Experience in palliative, hospice, or specialist ward care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • A calm, empathetic approach to complex care situations
  • A proactive, solution-focused attitude to patient care
  • You need to be a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post qualification experience, having passed your first validation.

At our hospice, we understand that this work is deeply personal, and we are committed to supporting our staff just as we support our patients. If you're ready to bring comfort, dignity, and peace to those at the end of life, we would love to hear from you.

How we look after you

  • We put people first in all that we do, which includes our own team
  • Wellbeing and resilience support with a dedicated team by your side
  • Flexible and hybrid working for many roles
  • A supportive and caring environment
  • Opportunities to grow, develop and progress, with culture of lifelong learning
