The role
We have a great opportunity for an Assistant/Junior Planner to join our Civil Engineering team. You will be responsible for supporting the Planner and Senior Planner in the daily programme management duties and assist to support the successful delivery of projects. You will provide accurate, time-related programme information, including key dates for procurement, design, and construction. The role involves monitoring and reporting site progress, forecasting future activities, and producing KPIs, programme metrics, and detailed analysis. We have an exceptional pipeline with recent projects consisting of road schemes, bridge works, public realm, reservoirs and general civil engineering schemes based predominantly in the North West with a value from £1m to £10m.
This role will be mobile and based on our various sites around the North West.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Monitor and record as-built site progress against the main programmes with regular site attendance.
- Regular weekly progress reporting on all schemes.
- Attending regular meetings with all site operations teams as required.
- Maintaining KPI/Dashboard monthly reporting alongside updating various trackers.
- Maintaining Folder structures ensuring all information is detailed across the teams.
- PMO ad hoc reporting and support to the Senior Planner/Planner.
- Provide accurate time related programme information. This will include procurement, design & construction key dates.
- Monitor and report on site progress accurately and look ahead forecasting.
- Provide onsite logistical information working closely with the site team and H&S department.
- Producing KPI & programme metrics along with detailed analysis.
- Provide support as and when needed to the pre-construction team.
About You
Aligned to our ethos and values, you will be an integral part of our planning team who is passionate about Civil Engineering;
Ideally you’ll have:
- Industry background and experience working in a similar role – ideally between 1-2 years’ experience.
- Appropriate IT skills including the use of company software packages. (Primavera P6, Powerproject, Microsoft Project, Power BI & Excel)
- CSCS Card
- Site experience desirable
- Understanding and appreciation of the requirements on NEC3 / 4 Contracts and the importance of programme to management.
- Working understanding of construction project lifecycles, methodologies and terminology.
- Clear, concise oral and written communications, internally and externally.
- Information management skills.
- Ability to quickly digest information.
- Time management skills.
- Experience working across different teams within a business.
