We typically work 2 days a week in the office

Please note the role requires regular Saturday working and attending community events, partner meetings and site visits. Presence in the bi-borough where healthy living activity clubs take place is key. There is flexibility to work from home and in the office to complete admin around activity club delivery.

You will join a dynamic service that takes a preventative and whole systems approach to tackling childhood obesity and health inequalities at a time when supporting disadvantaged members of our society is more essential than ever.

As the Children’s Healthy Living Activity Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting children aged 5–11 and their families and carers to eat well, keep active and maintain a healthy weight. You’ll deliver fun, interactive evidence-based health promotion clubs and activities in partnership with local youth organisations, schools and community partners.

You will lead five-week club programmes, including after-school, Saturday and holiday sessions, engaging children and their families in practical activities that promote healthy eating, physical activity and emotional wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver interactive health promotion sessions focused on healthy eating, physical activity and wellbeing for children aged 5 – 11 yrs
• Lead after-school, Saturday and holiday programmes across Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
• Support children and their families to set realistic, achievable goals for improving their health and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with local partners, schools and youth organisations.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, participant feedback, and outcomes.
• Promote sessions within the community and promote inclusion, diversity and Family Action’s values in all activities
• Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies are followed.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
Qualifications/ Education:
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in health, education, social work, or equivalent experience with children and young people and health and wellbeing promotion.
Experience:
• Experience delivering health promotion sessions or focused group work to children and young people.
• Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating fun and interactive group sessions for children and young people, preferably aged 5- 11 yrs
• Experience in safeguarding children and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Understanding of health topics relevant to children and young people, including nutrition, physical activity and emotional wellbeing.
• Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate interactive group sessions.
• Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with schools, youth organisations, and community partners and engage diverse communities.
• Awareness of public health priorities, health inequalities and determinants of health
• Good record-keeping skills and confidence in using database systems to accurately record, monitor, and report on activities and outcomes.
Other:
• Commitment to Family Action’s values; flexible working including after-school hours, Saturdays and school holidays; familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures; good IT skills.
• A driver’s license and access to your own car is desirable for this post.
