The Royal Entomological Society is recruiting one new volunteer to be a Student Representative.
The 1-2 year role includes helping to organise the annual Student Forum with RES staff, and providing updates to the Society’s Committees such as Events and Membership, acting as a voice for students within any consultations of the Society’s membership, and providing ideas to the Society on how to improve the student member experience.
The benefits from being a representative include experience of working in a team, organising an event and the opportunity to network with established entomologists. Reps get fully funded attendance at the Student Forum, and some support to attend Ento. Representatives need to be student members of the Royal Entomological Society.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Student Representative for the RES! It has been great contributing to the Society and organising the annual Student Forum, whilst meeting so many incredible people along the way – there’s no other opportunity like this. I would do it all over again if I could!” – Ben Hawthorne (Newcastle University, outgoing student rep)
Ben Hawthorne is an outgoing rep, Idris Adams and Rosy Christopher are continuing reps. They welcome questions about the role.
