*Heard is trialling the Four-Day Week as part of our commitment to well-being, sustainability and effectiveness. This means our full-time equivalent has reduced from 35 to 32 hours, spread Mon – Thurs. Our trustees will review whether to permanently adopt Four-Day Week in early 2026, at which point we will work carefully with all our team to ensure all work patterns are sustainable for them, regardless of the decision. Learn more about the trial.
If you require any reasonable adjustments during our recruitment processes, including assistance with reading this page or sending documents, please contact info@heard.org.uk.
This role is both strategic and hands-on: you’ll set direction for our communications while also creating content, building relationships, bringing our impact stories to life and managing all our communications day-to-day. You’ll work closely with programme teams, funders and partners to ensure Heard’s work is visible and accessible.
You’ll help us shine a light on the breadth of Heard’s work. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who is:
- Excited by storytelling for change, with a strong interest in climate and social justice.
- Keen to grow your expertise in narrative change and pop culture for change (training will be provided), the leading approaches in communicating for change.
- Confident in creating communications plans that drive strategic goals.
- Loves creating and commissioning engaging content and experiences – across digital, events, thought leadership and publications.
- Skilled at turning impact data into engaging content and stories.
- Wants to help shape and ultimately own our organisational voice through day-to-day management of all our comms channels.
- Can support our highly creative team to create content for our communications channels (our team includes film-makers, writers and former communications professionals).
While you will work across all our programme areas, a majority of your time will focus on our climate programme, where we’re working with TV and media partners to transform how climate is seen and felt on screen.
