About the Role
Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a role with purpose? Join our property team and help manage and deliver projects across the Diocese of Westminster’s diverse estate, including churches, parish halls, presbyteries, and other diocesan properties.
You will oversee planned and reactive projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This is a varied role involving project management, specification writing, statutory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

- Manage construction and refurbishment projects from start to finish.
- Prepare specifications, working drawings, and tender documentation.
- Oversee statutory applications (planning, building regulations, listed building consent).
- Act as contract administrator and manage procurement processes.
- Carry out asset and condition surveys and advise on property maintenance.
- Develop and maintain an asset management strategy for the Diocese.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is not only competent in surveying but who also embodies our diocesan values of Competence, Reliability, Honesty, Perseverance, and Love.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A Chartered Surveyor(MRICS, MCIOB, CABE) or equivalent, with substantial project management experience.
- Experienced in managing projects up to £1m, including listed buildings.
- Skilled in preparing specifications, drawings, and statutory applications.
- Knowledgeable in building regulations, planning legislation, and health & safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel essential; MS Project desirable).
- A strong communicator and team player with excellent organisational skills.
- Willing to travel regularly across the Diocese (car required; mileage allowance provided).
Essential:
- 5+ years post-qualification experience.
- Commitment to the values of the Diocese and respect for diverse groups.
Desirable:
- Understanding of the Catholic Church and its structure.
Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
