We have an opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to join our Environment Team North for a 12 months fixed term contract.
Working with the Environment Manager North and a team of ecologists and environmental scientists, you will provide professional technical support on ecological issues to multi-disciplinary teams. This includes asset engineers, geotechnical specialists, project managers, contract managers, contractors, community engagement managers, fund raisers and the communications team, to ensure compliance on all areas of work conducted by the Trust and delivery of the Trust’s strategy and policy. The work will include undertaking habitat and species surveys, nature recovery, and biodiversity net gains.
The Environment Team supports the work of the Trust as a whole, while conserving and seeking to enhance the environment of the inland waterway network. As a large landowner with blue and green corridors, there are also opportunities to work with our Volunteer Leads and use our local volunteer workforce to connect habitats across the landscape, carry out environmental enhancements and support biodiversity.
The role will be based working from home, with the expectation to undertake field work and attend the main regional hub in Leeds for collaborative working. This is a regional role, requiring travel mostly within the Yorkshire North East region, with occasional travel across the North.
