About World Jewish Relief

World Jewish Relief provides life-saving and life-changing action to people in crisis
around the world. We work with our trusted local partners to help people survive
the consequences of conflict and disaster, to thrive and rebuild their lives. We
deliver programmes using our expertise, with urgency to achieve maximum and
sustainable impact for those within and beyond our community.

UK Programmes

Following a successful Emergency campaign to support Syrian Refugees in 2015
World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme
(STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist
employment support to people who have experienced forced migration in the UK.

STEP aims to improve integration for refugees and people who have experienced
forced migration support though a targeted employment programme that
addresses the complex barriers they face in preparing for, and ultimately finding,
work in the UK. We support all people who have experienced forced migration
regardless of their proximity to the labour market, to develop the skills and access
the opportunities they need to secure sustainable and meaningful employment.

We deliver STEP online and in person programmes across the UK. Our work now
includes specific programming for women refugees, Afghan nationals, Ukrainians
and those who have come through the asylum system.

We are expanding our work to deliver (in partnership with the British Council) an
English Language and Employment Support Programme for up to 4,000
Ukrainians and Hong Kong BNO status/visa holder (50% of each community) over
the next 12 months. The programmes provide advice and signposting to relevant
services to mitigate against any potential obstacle to participation – this includes
access to tech and statutory childcare.

The Role

We are recruiting a team of remote Employment Advisors who will provide high
quality advice and guidance through 1:1 employability support and group
employability workshops with the aim of coaching individuals and supporting them
on their journey into employment that suits their previous experience and skill set.

The STEP Employment Advisor will work remotely and can be based anywhere in
the UK. The post holder will prepare participants for employment and help them to

achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. They will monitor and
encourage participants’ engagement and attendance in all aspects of the
programme. They will provide an exemplary level of support to STEP participants
working towards a variety of performance targets based on the progression
outcomes of participants including successful delivery of workshops, completion of
training courses, volunteering, and achieving and sustaining paid employment.
