Job overview

We are looking for an experienced nurse to lead our paediatric allergy service. This role works alongside a medical team and will be involved in assessing and diagnosing children with an allergy through relevant allergy testing. This role will provide clinical expertise to support the wider MDT and provide relevant training to staff and families as required.

The role will be responsible for the development and implementation of service specific polices and protocols with support form the MDT.

Main duties of the job

This role will be responsible for the development and implementation of relevant care pathways based on best available evidence.

The role with develop a robust transition plan for young people who will transition to adult services.

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse RSCN/RN Child, minimum 3 years qualified experience
  • EPLS qualified or willing to undertake
  • ENB 99 course or equivalent academic modules Mentor course
Desirable criteria
  • Allergy management course or willing to complete one
  • Proven post qualification work with paediatric allergic conditions
  • Community care experience

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to develop advanced clinical skills, the ability to asses, diagnose and treat as independent practitioner
  • Excellent IT skills, competent with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook, PAS and EDS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working independently
  • Experience of quality improvement process including audit and risk management and a good understanding of clinical governance
  • Trained to do allergy testing and food challenges

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and as part of a team
  • Show initiative within current service and evidence of improvement ideas
  • Proven Experience in the involvement in teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Evidence of supporting others within the clinical
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in speciality
