Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is a specialist employment approach that connects work and health, enabling people with health conditions to return to or remain in meaningful employment. Shaw Trust is one of the UK’s leading IPS providers—second only to the NHS.
As Service Manager, you will combine strategic vision with strong leadership and relationship-building skills. You will take full accountability for programme outcomes, ensuring delivery meets the highest standards of IPS fidelity and aligns with the IPS Fidelity Manual.
Key responsibilities include- Managing and supporting Team Leaders through regular supervision, focusing on IPS and supported employment best practices.
- Providing guidance on complex staffing and caseload challenges.
- Building and maintaining partnerships with local NHS Trusts, employment providers, referral sources, and commissioners.
- Working closely with NHS Mental Health teams to ensure IPS is fully integrated within clinical services.
- Developing positive relationships with external stakeholders, including NHS England and IPS Grow.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference—helping people achieve sustainable employment and better health outcomes through evidence-based practice.
You Will Have- Strong understanding and/or experience of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) or Supported Employment model.
- Proven experience in contract/project management, ensuring performance, quality, and compliance.
- Track record of success in target-driven environments, with the ability to drive performance.
- Skilled in accessing external support services and building effective networks.
- Commercial awareness, including developing collaborative opportunities and cost-effective solutions.
This is a hybrid role, combining home working with community-based activities. You will typically spend 2–3 days per week in the community attending commissioner meetings, meeting your team, and collaborating with referral partners.
