Durham Cathedral
Location:
North East
Inspired by our saints, Cuthbert and Bede, the mission of Durham Cathedral is to offer everyone the opportunity to encounter God and know God’s love in Jesus Christ.
The Acting Bishop of Durham is seeking a person of faith and ambition to join Durham Cathedral as Canon Missioner at an exciting time in the Cathedral’s 900-year story. The Cathedral has recently launched Vision 2033 and identified four priorities for the years ahead - Encountering God: Pilgrimage, Prayer and Proclamation. Alongside playing a full part in the worshipping and governance life of the Cathedral as a Residentiary Canon, the Canon Missioner will also lead on the Proclamation strand of Vision 2033, enabling people to discover and explore faith and connect it with key public-square issues facing us today. The Cathedral welcomes expressions of interest from people with a range of leadership and ministry experience (including six years in holy orders) and who will enjoy working collaboratively with a gifted and committed team. Closing date: 09:00 on Friday 5 December 2025 Interview dates: Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 January 2026 For an informal conversation please contact: Martha.Stewart@durhamcathedral.co.uk to make an appointment to speak with the Dean, Philip Plyming For more information and a candidate application pack please click the 'apply for this job' button below.
