Part time Support Worker – Papworth Trust are looking for a Support Worker to join their Day Opportunities Service team in South Cambridge, Cambridgeshire area on a part time basis (21 hours per week). Where you will be delivering person-centred support that enables our customers to engage in community and centre-based activities, build independence, and achieve their personal goals.

About the role:

As a Support Worker, you will provide practical, emotional, and personal care support tailored to individual customer needs, working closely with colleagues, families, and external partners to deliver safe, supportive, and person-centred support. Upholding safeguarding, health and safety, and Trust policies to ensure meet with the Trust’s values while ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and empowering service delivery. Working hours for this role are 21 per week, from 9:30am to 4:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support our customers to engage in recreational, learning, and work-skills activities in both group and 1:1 settings, adapting tasks to maximise their engagement and independence.
  • Provide personal care and daily living support, including mobility, moving and handling, eating and drinking, continence, and medication support in line with individual care plans and training.
  • Communicate effectively using customers’ preferred methods, including visual aids, technology, and Makaton, to enhance understanding, choice, and participation.
  • Implement, contribute to, and review care and support plans, risk assessments, and documentation, while monitoring wellbeing and promptly reporting concerns or changes.

About you:

As the successful Support Worker, you will share our values and demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, inclusion and safeguarding. Ideally you will have experienced in supporting adults with complex learning disabilities, providing dignified personal care, adapting activities for sensory needs, and promoting independence in a safe, risk-assessed environment. Although comprehensive training and support will be provided to the right candidate to help you deliver high-quality, person-centred care. Alongside strong teamwork you will be experienced in accurate record-keeping, and confidence in using a range of communication methods including visual aids and technology, experience with Makaton would be ideal.  Most importantly you must have the flexibility to meet individual needs and travel as required.
