LOCATION: Hull
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,800-£28,533 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
How would you like to be part of the team at BBC East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire? We have an opportunity for a Journalism Researcher to join us here in Hull. You’ll be part of the team that finds and tells great stories from across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. We want someone creative and dynamic, who isn’t afraid to speak up in a busy newsroom. You’ll be a self-starter who knows how to find great stories and to bring them to life for our audiences. You’ll also need to be responsible, with an understanding of BBC Values and Editorial Guidelines.
You’ll be predominantly based within the TV team, but the newsroom is muti-platform, so you could find yourself working alongside online, radio or social teams too! A knowledge of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire is important, but not as much as great ideas and enthusiasm.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Pitching ideas for news coverage, and guests for planned and breaking news stories.
- You will work well under pressure within a newsroom environment.
- You will be a self-starter, capable of managing your own time and prioritising from a list of daily duties.
- You will be able to work well across teams in the newsroom, from on-the-day news teams, to planning, to operational and output.
- You will at times be required to work within the gallery during output, so will need to thrive in a live environment
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience working in a newsroom
- Strong editorial judgement
- Good knowledge of news and current affairs, particularly within East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
- Proven experience within broadcast environments
- A good team player
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Familiarity with BBC editorial guidelines and compliance.
• Knowledge of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire’s local issues and audience needs.
• A knowledge of BBC systems including Openmedia and Quantel
