Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage.
Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts, and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings.
That's why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it's why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play, and create.
Perched on a ridge overlooking the Vale of Scarsdale and the creation of a horse-mad Cavalier playboy, Bolsover Castle is something truly special. The team welcome almost 100,000 visitors each year to discover the lavishly decorated rooms of this Stuart mansion, the astonishing riding school and the wonderfully recreated garden, and take in the stunning countryside views.
It also plays host to a vibrant event programme that offers something for everyone - from our blockbuster Legendary Joust to a diverse and lively range of community events and activities.
We are looking for an experienced manager who knows how to deliver and maintain a team environment where truly memorable visitor experiences can happen and shares our belief that Heritage is for Everyone.
The Bolsover Castle manager also has responsibility for overseeing and supporting the managers at Peveril Castle and Gainsborough Old Hall to deliver a smooth operation at their sites.
This role is full-time (36 hours per week) and permanent. As a busy heritage attraction, the successful candidate would be expected to work weekends and public holidays. Internally this role is referred to as the Bolsover Cluster Manager.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience of managing all aspects of visitor operations in a leisure and tourism environment and has a track record of inspiring their teams to achieve commercial targets underpinned by consistent and memorable service experiences.
You will be adept at leading a large and diverse team of staff and volunteers across a dispersed geographical area and manage costs effectively too.
An excellent communicator possessing the confidence and ability to represent the charity externally and cultivate effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and collaborations.
