About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our LFCW Academy medical department as a Casual Physiotherapist or Therapist. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our sessional rota to cover games and training sessions at our AXA Melwood Training Centre.

What will you be doing?

  • To provide cover and additional support for the LFCW PGA Medical Team when required, this will include attending training sessions and matches.
  • To liaise with LFCW PGA coaching staff regarding players’ injury status and availability.
  • To assess and manage injuries and illnesses to players within the LFCW PGA squads.
  • To provide treatment and rehabilitation to players within the LFCW PGA squads.
  • To design and deliver individual injury prevention programmes for players within the LFCW PGA squads.
  • To keep records which meet the standard required by The FA and the appropriate professional bodies.
  • To manage referrals for LFCW PGA players to the LFCW PGA Medical Lead.
  • In collaboration with the PGA manager and the LFCW PGA Medical Lead, communicate with parents/carers in the event of physiotherapy/sports therapy queries, generally, and specifically to their child.
  • In collaboration with the PGA manager and the LFCW PGA Medical Lead, ensure rules and best practice for adequate physiotherapy/sports therapy provision and PGA processes allow adherence to guidelines.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful, you will be a fully qualified chartered physiotherapist and member of the health and care professions council, or will be a qualified Therapist. You will have an ITMMIF and/or ATMMIF FA accredited emergency aid qualification and be able to show previous experience in a professional sports setting. In addition you will need to have completed the FA Safeguarding Children and UKAD Clean Sport Advisor courses.

You will be able to demonstrate a willingness to undertake continued professional development, provided by the Club and have an appreciation of the pressures and commitments required for all youth players involved in elite sport with the ability to promote an ethos which is one of high aspirations and achievement for all.

You’ll have the ability to communicate effectively and create the right development environment, demonstrating role model behaviour is essential and so is having an understanding of the requirements around the Women's and Girls' talent pathway and the safeguarding of young players as providing support to the players emotional needs is also important for this role.
