Saxon Crown Swimming Club, based in South London, is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and inspiring, and well-qualified Assistant Head Coach to assist our Head Coach in improving the technical skills and performance of swimmers at our friendly, inclusive and ambitious club.

Our membership has grown to 350 members, and the club's results at the 2025 Kent County Championships and London Regionals demonstrate the positive trajectory the club is on.

Our goal is to provide progression for swimmers to achieve their full potential, whether they are just starting out or competing at the highest levels.

Job D escription

Key Functions :

  • In conjunction with the Head Coach, identify the training needs of individual swimmers or groups of swimmers and develop and deliver those training programmes tailored to improve strengths and tackle weaknesses towards improving individual performance.
  • Prepare individual swimmers for their respective competition events; attend competitions and oversee warm-up and warm-down drills, feedback and post-competition improvement programmes in association with the Head Coach and senior coaches.
  • Collaborate with senior coaches and squad coaches in the development and delivery of training programmes.
  • Set individual targets through personal log books and provide regular feedback to swimmers and parents on progress towards improvement targets.
  • With the Head Coach, identify equipment needs to improve technical performance.
  • Assist with assessment of new swimmers, as required.
  • Develop effective professional relationships with other coaching staff and with parents/carers.
  • Cover for the Head Coach, as required.
  • Provide cover for other coaching staff, as necessary.

Person Specification :

  • Successful experience of developing technical training programmes for individual improvement.
  • Proven experience in coaching swimmers to an elite level.
  • Carry out the role in a manner that recognises the swimmer’s welfare and enjoyment as the key priority, and that there may be other important activities in the swimmer’s life.
  • Ability to analyse performance and where improvement is required.
  • Minimum of Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award..(A degree in sports science, kinesiology or physical education would be desirable, but is not essential)
  • Leadership/motivational skills.
  • Good team player.
