As a cleaner, you’ll play a key role in maintaining that welcoming atmosphere. This is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to make a real difference every day while working with a team that cares about people and their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

unctional Responsibilities

  • To clean all communal areas within the house as detailed below:
    • Residents' lounges
    • Residents' dining room
    • Residents' and staff toilets
    • Residents' bathroom and shower rooms
    • All halls, stairways and landings
    • The staff office
    • Residents' bedrooms at the discretion of the residents and staff as required
    • Washing down the walls and paintwork of any of these areas, as required
  • The work to be carried out in these areas will include:
    • Vacuuming all carpets
    • Sweeping and polishing all floor areas
    • Dusting and polishing all other surfaces
    • Cleaning and disinfecting all communal toilets, baths, showers and sinks
    • Emptying and cleaning all ashtrays
  • To clean and put away all cleaning utensils.
  • To keep all cleaning cupboards clean and tidy.
  • To report any breakages or necessary replacements to the senior staff.
  • To report any hazards to safety or hygiene to senior staff.
  • To co-operate with staff and residents in maintaining the care ethos of the project.
  • Extra cleaning to be undertaken during COVID-19 outbreak:
    All door handles, bannisters, communal remote controls, light switches, bathroom handles and levers to be disinfected daily and relevant paperwork completed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • An awareness of the need to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and safety throughout the house – especially during COVID-19 outbreak.
  • An appreciation that the house represents the home of the residents and is not simply a place of work.
  • A willingness to work alongside residents in shared cleaning tasks, as appropriate.
  • A willingness to undertake job related training as identified by the Manager.
  • Sensitivity towards people with special needs.
  • An appreciation of the need for confidentiality.
  • A willingness to work within the framework of Together’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
