We are seeking Relief Night Contact Workers to work waking night shifts (21:30–08:30) on a casual, as-required basis. The post holder will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of the house overnight, while providing emotional and practical support to residents and responding appropriately to new arrivals.

This role requires a calm, compassionate and vigilant individual who can work independently, use sound judgement and respond sensitively to women who may have experienced trauma.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out building checks and report any health and safety, maintenance or security concerns

  • Monitor CCTV systems in line with policies and procedures

  • Respond to telephone enquiries and accurately log messages

  • Update electronic records to contribute to each woman’s individual support plan

  • Work closely with the Police when new residents arrive during the night

  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of health, safety and community living

  • Undertake general house duties as required

  • Adaptability and flexibility, responding positively to change and unexpected situations
  • Ability to support women who have experienced trauma and may display challenging behaviour

  • Ability to work sensitively with pregnant women and newborn babies

  • Ability to work with discretion and within data protection and safeguarding frameworks

You will have experience of working with vulnerable people in residential or support settings, along with knowledge of health and safety, risk management and trauma-informed practice. Experience of working with victims of human trafficking and modern slavery is desirable.

A general understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church is desirable but not essential.
