1. The Department
The Safeguarding Department are committed to creating a safe environment for all who engage with our Club. We are committed to creating a culture where safeguarding is widely understood and embedded throughout the Club. We are responsible for providing effective leadership and management, ensuring compliance with Premier League rules and government legislation, whilst maintaining key stakeholder relationships internally and externally.
To strengthen our current provision and deliver our next exciting phase, we are now looking for Safeguarding Manager who will lead on the provision for our Boys Academy. You will have the opportunity to support a programme that ensures that our off-field support is structured and co-ordinated leading to creating the best possible experience and environment for our young players.
2. The Role
In this role, you will lead the safeguarding provision and champion best practice across the Boys Academy in line with the Club’s Safeguarding strategy, vision and policies to ensure a safe environment that nurtures, encourages and develops young people.
You will be the first point of contact for responding and managing any safeguarding concerns within the Boys Academy and will provide guidance support and advice to colleagues, players and parents / guardians. This will include attending relevant Boys Academy training sessions and matches, delivering local safeguarding inductions and working collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to support projects, initiatives and events from a safeguarding perspective.
You will also manage and co-ordinate our host families (care and accommodation providers) that our young players stay with. You will manage and co-ordinate the host family recruitment and be the liaison between the Club and the host families.

3. The Person
You will need to be personable, approachable and be able to build and maintain relationships at all levels, particularly with parents and players, and be able to communicate effectively and clearly.
You will need to be a safeguarding and/or a welfare professional with a relevant degree/professional qualification (or equivalent experience) and have worked or volunteered with children or young people, ideally in an elite sporting environment. You must be credible with expert level of knowledge and understanding of current safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and best practice including recording and handling clear and comprehensive records.
You will need to be organised, able to prioritise workload whilst being flexible and responding to dynamic situations displaying integrity and discretion as and when required.
This will be a hands-on role attending relevant training sessions and matchdays and travelling to various locations including going to visit host families so you will need to hold a UK Driving Licence with access to your own vehicle. You will also need to be available to work flexibly, including working matchdays, evenings and weekends.

They gain the power to shape their own narrative and expand what is possible, individually but also through collective action. Working in Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Syria, Seenaryo uses theatre and play to support people to heal, lead and learn. We co-create performances with under-served communities, train future leaders and transform classrooms through play. Reaching over 175,000 children, youth and women since 2015, Seenaryo won the Resilience in Action Award at HundrED 2024, the Arts, Culture & Heritage prize at the 2023 UK Charity Awards and was one of Expo 2020 Dubai’s 120 Global Innovators. Mission By breaking apart the typical hierarchies of theatre and classrooms, Seenaryo creates playful spaces in Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine where all individuals can meaningfully participate as collaborators, creators and catalysts for social change. We do this by co-creating theatre with groups of adults and children, by training youth and women as theatre leaders, and by training teachers to teach their curriculum through play. Are you a talented musician who loves sharing church music with young people? Are you flexible in your approach and someone comfortable with a range of music from modern to traditional?
This is an exciting and well-funded five-year project where four neighbouring churches have come together to employ a musical director to set up and run choirs or singing groups for young people in each of our contexts.
The successful applicant will be a talented musician, keyboardist and singer, with experience of running choirs and of teaching young people. They will be a capable self-starter, able to see potential in each of our different settings, flexible enough to work with different churches and with an appreciation of the spiritual side of the life of the Church. They will be supported in this role by a full-time Youth and Families Worker dedicated completely to this project.
The project’s work ranges from setting up a children’s top line for a choir of an already good parish standard, to working with a church on an estate of urban deprivation to enhance their midweek musical offering.
The post will require regularly working on Sundays and some early evening work. We offer six weeks’ annual leave, a starting salary of £36,000 (£60,000 FTE) plus pension contributions, regular management and oversight meetings and reimbursement of travel between venues.

Do you have excellent networking and engagement skills, coupled with a knowledge of The Church of England and how diocese and parishes work? If you are able to work collaboratively with senior diocesan staff, clergy and volunteers, then you could make an excellent Diocesan Ambassador.
The role is an integral part of our work in the community. Our current Diocesan Ambassadors do a wide range of activities, ranging from organising and running Christingles in their communities, talking to local clergy and supporting our house box networks. Key Roles
- To be a team member, participating in the general running of the Centre, specifically instructing in the Outdoor Education programme to promote the Christian faith in line with goals and vision of the Trust.
- To participate as directed with instruction in outdoor activities.
- To ensure that proper safety precautions are operating within the group under instruction.
- To assist with the maintenance of the outdoor education equipment.
- To be responsible for particular areas of activity, equipment or storage as allocated from time-to-time.
- To take part in training as required, ensuring that the appropriate standards are upheld.
- To ensure that evidence of current experience and competence in outdoor activities is recorded in an up to date logbook.
- To ensure professional and skills development is maintained and developed through further logged practical experience, attending courses, reading and reflection all in one’s own time.
- To ensure that a continuity of the Centre’s spiritual programme is maintained while a group is taking part in activity programmes.
- To help with the supervision of the Centre and its guests: assisting with spiritual, social and recreational programmes as required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: MTUK Rock Climbing Instructor, BCAB Paddlesport Leader, MTUK Hill and Moorland Leader, BC Trail Leader (Level 2), Snowsports Scotland L1/BASI L1. You do not need to have all of these, but a combination of several will be expected.
- It is a genuine occupational requirement that the holder of this post is a practising Christian whose lifestyle is consistent with the values and doctrine of the Christian faith
- As part of our commitment to safeguarding, the successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure
