The role:
The Community Support Volunteer plays a key role in supporting community engagement, development, and awareness of Together Drug and Alcohol Service. Volunteers help promote the service, support community events, and assist with training delivery across the service’s catchment area, working both independently and alongside the Community Development Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to different areas within the service’s catchment to support community engagement and development activities.
- Promote Together Drug and Alcohol Service to individuals, groups, and organisations within the community.
- Represent the service professionally and positively at community support events.
- Attend and support community events both independently and alongside the Community Development Lead.
- Assist in the delivery of training sessions within the community alongside the Community Development Lead.
- Build positive relationships with community members and partner organisations.
- Provide feedback and insights from the community to support service development
- Adhere to organisational policies, including confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional boundaries.
Tasks may include:
Travelling to the different areas within our catchment and assisting with community support and development. Promoting the service to others in the community independently and alongside the Community Development Lead. Attending community support events independently and alongside the community development lead. Assisting in delivering training in the community alongside the community development lead.

As a Family Support Volunteer, you will provide additional support to the families we work with by either volunteering alongside our Family Support Workers, or supporting families independently.
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity enables families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness to make the most of time together, providing expert, practical and emotional support, where they need it for as long as it is needed. As a Family Support Volunteer, you will provide additional support to the families we work with by either volunteering alongside our Family Support Workers, or supporting families independently.
Your role may include:
- Social support for siblings e.g. supporting interests, craft and play activities or helping with homework
- Accompanying the family on days out or sibling trips during the school holidays
- Accompanying the family to hospital appointments
- Practical support in the family home such as housework, shopping or gardening
What we’re looking for:
- An excellent communicator who can build relationships with children and young people
- Experience of interacting with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Experience of interacting with children and young people
- Confidence in working with children and young people with complex health needs

Your commitment:
- Requirements for support can vary depending on family circumstances, but we ask that you are able to volunteer for one session per week, Monday –Friday, during the day
- To enable you to get the most out of your volunteer role, we are looking for volunteers who are available to volunteer for the next 12 months

- A dedicated member of Rainbow Trust staff will guide and support you in your work
- You will receive a full induction to the charity and a programme of training relevant to your role, to help you get the most from your time with us
- Training will cover areas such as safeguarding, active listening skills, bereavement, health and safety, confidentiality and GDPR

- All care volunteers will receive regular one to one support and more formal supervision sessions

Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the oldest disability charities in the UK. This year we are celebrating our 225th anniversary, having pioneered specialist support across multiple generations since 1799!

Right now, we are looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to play a pivotal role in our Cannot Street Service in Tower Hamlets.
Sounds great, what will I be doing?
You will be ensuring the safety and security of the building and service users throughout the night while delivering person‑centred support that responds to changing needs. You will be co‑producing risk assessments, crisis plans and safety plans with service users, their loved ones and professionals, as well as providing crisis management, support during mental health relapse and intensive guidance around substance misuse. You will be helping individuals achieve positive wellbeing and safety outcomes, completing housing management and caretaking duties, conducting flat checks, monitoring alarms and CCTV, carrying out regular patrols, and undertaking nightly cleaning tasks to maintain high service standards.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will be bringing experience of supporting people with mental health and complex needs, ideally including work with individuals affected by substance misuse. You will be confident in Recovery‑focused and co‑production approaches, able to design and deliver activities that reduce anxiety, build confidence and support self‑defined recovery. You will maintain high standards in challenging situations and draw on knowledge of relevant legislation such as welfare reform, the Care Act and housing pathways. You will engage clients in assessments and co‑produce support plans, use MS Office and case management systems effectively, understand basic building safety, communicate clearly in English, work flexibly out of hours and accurately manage petty cash.

About the role:
This is a unique opportunity for a Waking Night Support Worker who would relish the opportunity for career development.
This role includes both lone working and teamwork. You will support with medication, personal care, nutrition, and maintain a clean environment through laundry and housekeeping duties. Tasks include monitoring service users during the night, completing required documentation such as night checks, incident forms, and observation records, and providing support according to individualised care plans.
You will also liaise with families and professionals, participate in training and supervisions, and ensure policies and procedures are followed. Aspens offers flexible shifts and support for professional development in a rewarding environment.
