About the role
DENS Day Centre provides a safe and welcoming space for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion. As a Day Centre Support Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our mission, offering practical help, emotional support, and a listening ear to those who need it most.
You’ll be welcoming clients, helping them to access our facilities and finding out more about them so you can signpost them to the right support. You’ll help run activities like quizzes and games, prepare and serve meals, and work alongside other DENS staff and partner agencies to keep the centre running smoothly.

As part of an experienced team, this role will promote hepatitis C awareness, blood borne virus testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C. The role will support volunteer peers and increase the project’s reach to underserved communities. Reporting to the Academic Services Manager, you will play a key role in supporting students throughout their time at the College and ensuring the smooth delivery of academic and examination-related administration.
About the role
The Academic and Student Support Officer provides high-quality administrative support to current students and works closely with colleagues across the College and the University. You will be an important point of contact for students, offering clear guidance, excellent customer service and well-judged support.
The role sits within the Academic Office, which supports students across the full student lifecycle, from admissions and pre-arrival communication through to graduation. This includes working with a range of needs, e.g., from young people to older people, LGBTQ+ service users, disabled people, and people with a range of backgrounds and ethnicities, aiming to foster a sense of belonging. • Maintain hope and optimism for guests, holding high aspirations for peoples recovery. • Use lived experience (where appropriate) to positively support the individual’s recovery. • Support Guests to attend routine health care appointments. • Facilitate access to other service providers, agencies, or initiatives to support the achievement of recovery-based goals (e.g., benefits, housing, welfare rights, employment). • Link Guests with relevant community resources and promote mental health awareness to counter exclusion. • Support Guests in developing coping mechanisms and self-management strategies. Operational Duties: • Assist with the responsibility for the Health & Safety of the building, yourself, co-workers, and Guests. This includes identifying and reporting risks, including Health & Safety concerns, and completing appropriate paperwork. • Ensure GDPR compliance at all times when handling Guest information. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided in accordance with organisational guidelines.
