Associate Professorship or Professorship of Philosophy and Tutorial Fellowship
St Hugh’s College and the Faculty of Philosophy are seeking to recruit an Associate Professor or Professor of Philosophy, with a Tutorial Fellowship, to start from 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful candidate will have a research specialism in some aspect of Early Modern Philosophy (up to and including Kant). They will have a proven record of internationally recognised scholarship and research in philosophy appropriate to their career stage, and will be able to provide a high standard of research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
For the Faculty, the postholder will deliver 16 lectures or graduate classes per year, and will supervise graduate students (at Master’s and at doctoral level). The postholder will participate in examining and will play a full and active role in Faculty administration.
As a Tutorial Fellow of St Hugh’s they will also oversee the provision of philosophy teaching to students at St Hugh’s, they will share in the admission and pastoral care of students studying for degrees involving philosophy, and they will contribute to the effective running and governance of the College as a member of the Governing Body and Trustee of the Charity.
For the College, the postholder will be expected to deliver 8 weighted hours of teaching per week during term time, with associated duties. They will be required to give tutorials for both the Moral Philosophy and General Philosophy courses taken by first-year undergraduates in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) and in other joint Philosophy degrees. They should be able to teach advanced undergraduate tutorials (second year and beyond) in Early Modern Philosophy, The Philosophy of Kant, or at least one of Ethics and Knowledge and Reality and in at least one other advanced undergraduate course offered at Oxford.
The combined University and College salary is between £57,223 and £76,603 per annum. An additional allowance (currently £3,199 per annum) would be made upon award of the title of Professor. In addition, a taxable housing allowance of £10,905 per annum is paid by the College. The Fellow is entitled to free meals at the common table when the College kitchens are open.

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our team supporting adults experiencing common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
As a PWP, you will play a key role in assessing service users’ suitability for evidence-based psychological interventions and delivering Step 2 low-intensity therapies in line with the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) framework. Wysing Arts Centre and St Peter’s School are inviting applications from artists for a paid residency built around an academic year embedded within the school environment.
Now entering its fifth year, this established programme supports sustained creative engagement between an artist and young people. The selected artist will work directly with Year 7 and Year 8 students (ages 11–13), delivering 44 creative workshop sessions on Fridays during term time from September 2026 to June 2027. These workshops form part of the school’s Learn Aspire Exceed (LAE) curriculum, which provides students with enriching experiences beyond the core curriculum.

We are looking for individuals who have a passion to support young people through their transition into adulthood. This could include college support, being in their first tenancy, enhancing life skills and supporting group activities. You will provide social, emotional and practical support to meet young people’s agreed outcomes.
Please note that this role includes Sleepover* shifts.
*A sleepover shift consists of working during the day, a rest period sleeping over in the service and then working again the next day. The sleepover period is over and above your contracted hours and gets paid as an additional payment of £100.80 per sleepover.

Stopover provides a unique, women only supported housing in Brighton & Hove and West Sussex. Accommodation is provided across 10 houses, detailed below. Stopover 1 provides supported housing for nine homeless or insecurely housed young women between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five for up to two years. During this time, they are encouraged to develop the skills and confidence they will need to live independently and sustain a tenancy. The young women are expected to live within the house rules, attend key work sessions and complete the in-house life skills training before they are referred for move-on accommodation. The house offers intensive support; staffed twenty-four hours as a reflection of the clients whose needs arise from a history of negative and damaging relationships including abuse and domestic violence as well as mental health issues, behavioural issues, and substance misuse. The role of the Support Worker is to provide a consistent positive professional relationship that will allow the young women to start to trust, open up and address the issues in their past. As a result of presenting support needs there are times when the young women can challenge us, and an understanding of their previous chaotic lifestyles is essential in this role. Support Workers work as part of a rota system including cover over night and at weekends. All staff hold a caseload of clients within the house. Stopover 2 provides supported accommodation for nine young women between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five (under eighteen in agreed circumstances only) who have usually previously completed a successful stay in a house with higher support.
