Role Overview:
You will play a pivotal role in supporting unpaid carers through listening, advising, and advocating for them. You’ll conduct wellbeing reviews, needs assessments, identify and carry out required actions, and collaborate with local services. Your work aligns with local safeguarding procedures, promoting wellbeing and positive change for carers.
Own transport, clean driving license, and business class insurance is a requirement of the role.

Our team provides flexible intensive family support across Glasgow that enables children and young people on the edges of care, and their families, to receive the right support at the right time, building on their strengths.
The Family Support Worker will work in partnership with the Health & Social Care Partnership and other family support providers to share resources, learn and create solutions that will help children, young people and families to thrive.
This role is part time working 25 hours per week, for a fixed term period of 18-months.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Provide peripatetic support to our Children and Families services in Glasgow, Young People and Family Support and Common Ground
- Provide a minimum of 2 Common Ground outreach shifts per month. Shift times are Friday and Saturday 4pm to 10pm in Glasgow City Centre
- Develop good communication and working relationships with children and families, colleagues and other professionals
- Work alongside all immediate family members and extended family/support network as required
- Support children and families in the local community
- Deliver evidenced based family support that helps families overcome current challenges and build resilience for the future
- Maintain accurate case files for all family members and consistently assess progress across all outcomes
- Plan, implement and continuously develop packages of tailored interventions for families to meet the needs of the individual child, their parent(s)/carer(s), siblings and wider family network, including practical support, parenting education and support, and emotional health and wellbeing
- Assist individuals accessing the programme to engage and integrate into their local community
- Undertake whole family assessments that focus on strengths and continuous assessment of progress towards outcomes for all family members

You’ll also:
- Undertake or contribute to holistic and strength-based assessments of need and devise and implement appropriate plans for babies, children, young people, and families.
- Ensure the appropriate participation of children and young people in their own assessment, plans, and reviews.
- Manage own caseload and co-ordinate multi-agency support to deliver tailored family interventions and support which tracks and shows progress over time.
- Arrange and chair reviews on a regular basis to track and show progress, including children, young people and families and partner agencies as appropriate.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Recent and significant experience of case holding work with children, young people and/or families with complex and multiple needs, including the ability to carry out ‘Whole Family’ assessments and implement and review SMART plans which address strengths, needs and risks.
- Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, including knowledge regarding children’s development, or equivalent child related qualification.
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
- IT literacy.
- An understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The role involves weekly visits to family homes and other settings, acting as Lead Professional, completing early help assessments, and developing SMART plans, coordinating multi-agency Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, implementing evidence-based interventions and programmes to improve outcomes for children and families.
Main Responsibilities:
• Direct Work: Deliver interventions to improve parenting, child development, and family functioning using evidence-based programmes and interventions. Apply child-focused, relational, and strengths-based approaches.
• Assessment and analysis: Undertake comprehensive assessments of need applying a range of underpinning social theory, including, attachment, social learning theory, social ecology and child development. Working in partnership with other involved agencies, to establish a shared understanding of the child and family’s needs, any existing or potential risk and incorporating the child’s voice.
• Compile comprehensive plans, keeping children at the centre at all times, whilst incorporating whole-family thinking to drive improved outcomes for children through family stability, parenting and positive relationships. Ensure plans are continually reviewed for their effectiveness and revised when needed.
• Multi-Agency Coordination: Lead TAF meetings and ensure integrated support from health, education, and social care partners. Attend multi-agency meetings as required and collaboratively with health, social care, community, education, police and other agencies as required.
