By joining us as a Dover Castle Visitor Assistant, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. Through your recommendations, you will help personalise their visit - this could include talking about the benefits of English Heritage membership or recommending things to see and do on site. You will also contribute to making sure your site is accessible, safe and well presented at all times.
It is a varied role - some days will be busy from start to finish and others quieter, especially on the wetter days! Some paid or voluntary experience with the public is beneficial but full training and support is provided as part of your induction. You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays, more information will be provided at interview.

With a fun family trail, exhibition, and a soft play room near the cafe, there's plenty for visitors of all ages to discover and enjoy.
As a Pendennis Castle Visitor Assistant, you will join an amazing team of employees and volunteers, making sure visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. This is a varied role at Pendennis and we are looking for enthusiastic people to help support English Heritage through sales of memberships, admissions and working in our busy retail outlet, going about duties in a resource efficient way and minimising impacts to the environment wherever possible. Some days will be busy from start to finish, whereas others may be quieter especially on the wetter days! No two days are the same.

Within the 15th-century walls of the Pomeroy family castle, looms the dramatic ruined shell the great Elizabethan and Jacobean mansion of the Seymours. Their mansion was intended to become the most spectacular house in Devon but was never completed. Today the site welcomes c.16,000 visitors a year to discover the romantic ruin and explore the nearby beautiful woodland.
Please note; due to the responsibilities and requirements of this role, successful applicants will be required to undergo a basic DBS check, any employment offer will be contingent on this.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at one of the most intriguing medieval castles in the south west. Farleigh Hungerford Castle welcomes over 16,000 visitors a year who come to enjoy the fascinating stories of the sinister past of the Hungerford family who lived here for 300 years, bringing battle honour, court intrigue and scandal to the area. Our visitors also come to Farleigh simply to soak up the beautiful views, picnic in the grounds or pick up a historic treat in the gift shop.
We are especially keen to hear from you if you're interested in working at a smaller site where you will have involvement in all areas of the operation, working with one or two colleagues to manage a range of daily tasks across the whole site. The daily tasks can at times be physically demanding.

Down House belonged to the great scientist Charles Darwin, who lived here for 40 years until his death in 1882. After moving to the house in 1842, Darwin and his wife, Emma, remodeled the house and its extensive gardens, which Darwin used as an open-air laboratory. It was here that Darwin developed his theory of evolution by natural selection and wrote his groundbreaking work On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection (1859)

By joining us as a Dover Castle Education Visitor Assistant, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering education opportunities for young people to help us deliver our Discovery Visit sessions at Dover Castle. This is a hybrid role which means you will be trained to deliver our Discovery Visit sessions for Education as well as being trained in some other Visitor Assistant positions on site.
You would be responsible for delivering a warm welcome to all visitors, delivering engaging Discovery Visits and other educational activities on site for primary and secondary pupils, teachers and young people and setting up and packing down the education space and resources.
This role does not require you to have any teaching experience, but we would be keen for skills and experience of working with young people or delivering to a diverse audience. If successful, you would have full training to deliver our Discovery Visits. Please note, leading the Discovery Visits will require you to dress in historically accurate clothing which we will provide.

Set in the valley of the river Tyne, Chesters is the best-preserved Roman cavalry fort in Britain. Around 500 cavalry troops - the elite of the Roman auxiliary forces - were based here. Between the fort and the river, you'll find the finest example of a military bath house anywhere in Britain.
All this was rediscovered by John Clayton, a wealthy Victorian landowner whose mansion stands near the fort. His single-minded vision is celebrated in the fort's Clayton Museum, which is an absolute must-see for all visitors to Chesters.

Kenilworth Castle welcomes around 120,000 visitors a year, who come to explore the castle ruins and find out more about its intriguing stories, or simply to enjoy the green space and fabulous views.
With a shop, tearoom, school visits programmes and exciting events, this role provides an opportunity for you to get experience a range of different areas.
Daily tasks will vary but a core part of your role will be to ensure the site is safe and presentable to enable a warm welcome to everyone; you will find yourself working on admissions, retail sales, memberships sales, giving a hand in clearing up in the tearoom as well as helping visitors find their way around site and doing general cleaning duties at the castle.
We are looking for you to be able to start in for February or March. Contract hours vary between 7-21 hours per week, fixed term until 31st October. More hours will be available throughout the summer months with some hours offered during the winter. Typical shift patterns include working 7-8 hour days. By joining us as a Kenilworth Castle Visitor Assistant, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. Through your recommendations, you will help personalise their visit - this could include talking about the benefits of English Heritage membership or recommending things to see and do on site. You will also contribute to making sure your site is accessible, safe and well presented at all times.
It is a varied role - some days will be busy from start to finish and others quieter, especially on the wetter days! Some paid or voluntary experience with the public is beneficial but full training and support is provided as part of your induction. You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays, more information will be provided at interview.

We are looking for a Visitor Assistant to join us at Carlisle Castle, we currently have two positions available at £12.39 per hour / 15 hours per week April to October, 0 hours November to March / Permanent. Then one contract at £12.39 per hour / 7.5 hours per week April to October, 0 hours November to March / Permanent. Standing proud in the city Carlisle Castle has dominated for nine centuries, and has remained a working fortress until well within living memory. It has withstood many sieges, held captive a royal prisoner, and been home to the King's Own Royal Border Regiment.
