As a member of the Noah’s Ark Nurse and Specialist Care team, you’ll be encouraged to put the experience of children and families at the heart of all you do. As well as understanding their care needs, you’ll get to know what’s important to each child you support – whether it’s knowing what their favorite song to listen to is, how they like to play, or what sooths them when they are sad - at Noah’s Ark it’s so important that each child is treated as an individual. You’ll focus on what children can do, rather than their limitations, and will support them to experience things they may never have thought possible.
And by providing care for children, either at our state-of-the art building, The Ark, or out in the community, you’ll be allowing parents and cares to take some time for themselves. You’ll join our experienced nursing team to help provide a 24/7, on-call symptom assessment/management service for babies, children and young people in The Ark and out in the community.
Your commitment to children and families will continue through to end-of-life care. You’ll be a guiding reassuring presence for families elevating anxiety and worry and working with other healthcare professionals to create as much comfort as possible. You’ll be providing essential symptom management to help to bring comfort. As well as giving the choice of preferred place of care and preferred place of death.
During this time, you’ll continue to treat each child and family as an individual by taking the time to understand what is important to them. You’ll help to create memories to enable as good a death as possible.

Advanced Recovery Practitioner
Job Introduction

We have an opportunity for an Advanced Recovery Practitioner role to support the RECONNECT team based at County Hall. The RECONNECT service aims to improve continuity of care to vulnerable people leaving prison by supporting them prior to release and their subsequent transition to community-based services. They work with service users 6-weeks prior to release and up-to 6months post release. Although not an exhaustive list, they will be supporting service users with healthcare needs, such as GP registration, access to mental health support, signposting to employment or accommodation services. The ARP will work in collaboration with RECONNECT and pick up any cases where substance use has been identified. They will work with the service user up-to 6weeks prior to release from prison or immigration centres and support their transition into the community and ensure they remain engaged in structured treatment. The role will cover Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and will be co-located at County Hall.
The role will involve:
- Co-location at County Hall to work in collaboration with the RECONNECT team.
- Support a caseload of service users to resettle back into the community from custody, specifically engaging them in structured treatment.
- Work in collaboration with the RECONNECT team and undertake visits to prisons to help assess needs upon release. This will include completing assessments and ensuring continuity of care post release from custody.
- Regularly liaise with multi-agencies involved with the case to signpost and co-ordinate support.
- Attend, contribute and coordinate attendance at relevant meetings and share information relating to service users in treatment with Turning Point.
- Liaise with Recovery Workers in the main teams to advise on RECONNECT and transfer cases when the service user has engaged in structured treatment and RECONNECT remit has come to an end.
- Act as a subject matter expert relating to Substance Use and offer advice to RECONNECT colleagues.
- Prison vetting is essential for this role and will need to be in place prior to starting the role.
- You will be required to travel to prisons, other services, home visits so a driving licence and access to a car is an essential role requirement.

The Department of Geography at SFU is one of the strongest Geography departments in North America. We seek candidates who have expertise in and seek to advance critical social science understandings of the multifaceted social and political aspects of climate crisis, centring urban geographic dimensions of the crisis. Specifically, these may include: i) urban climate justice; ii) climate-related urban social movements; iii) extreme weather as it relates to urban precarity (e.g., work, housing, food security); iv) critical analyses of urban infrastructures in relation to just climate futures; v) Black, Indigenous, and/or queer approaches to urban life and climate change; and vi) cities and extractivism.
