Age UK's Telephone Friendship Service is recruiting for Friendship Coordinators to join our growing team!
Loneliness is a major issue that is now widely recognised in society today, particularly amongst older people. By scheduling weekly calls from our trained volunteers, Age UK's National Telephone Friendship Service provides older people with a chance to make a new friend from the comfort of their home.
As a Friendship Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating and supporting the thousands of matches between our members and volunteers across the UK. Whether you are answering emails and calls, ensuring safeguarding measures are upheld or supporting members and volunteers through the onboarding processes, you will be helping to ensure this much needed service reaches those who need it most, in a safe and efficient manner.
Utilising your excellent customer service skills, you will be the first port of call to support our volunteers and older members - so you'll need to be comfortable spending a lot of time on the phone and communicating by email. You'll also need to be passionate about supporting older people and have a good understanding of older people's needs.
This role can either be based at our office in Blackpool, or in Ashburton Devon. We offer a hybrid model of home and office based-working, so you will need to be within a reasonable distance of either the Blackpool or Devon office and be willing to travel there regularly. As a guide, the team currently work from the office once a fortnight but please be aware this could increase in the future.
You will work a 35-hour working week, 5 days out of 7 with start and end times between 8am and 6pm. It will include weekend and bank holiday shifts, which will be arranged on a rota basis.

Known within Avalon as a Support Co-Ordinator this role is better known in the Social Care Sector as a Senior Support Worker. This exciting and varied role will suit someone who’s passionate about providing outstanding care and wants to develop their management skills.
You will be responsible for assisting the local management team in undertaking basic management tasks, including managing staff rotas, undertaking direct observations of Support Workers, and updating support plans and risk assessments. You will also be required to provide direct support to the people we support.
We’re looking for candidates who have previous experience within the care sector. Experience of managing staff is desirable, but not essential. You must be computer literate due to the variety of IT based tasks associated with this role and a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use is also essential.
You will need to be able to work flexibly as you may need to provide emergency support cover, which could include evenings, nights and weekends, and you will need to be able to travel between support sessions. We are now looking for Senior Support Workers / Intervenors to join our Intervenor Service in the Hertfordshire area, working across various locations such as Stevenage, Ware & Hitchin.
Our Intervenors work 1:1 with children and adults who were born deafblind known as congenital Deafblindness, often with other complex needs, working with them and their family or carers to develop a way of communicating.
Intervenors promote personal and social development whilst encouraging independence through enabling access to activities.
You will receive specialist training in how to support individuals who are congenitally deafblind, often combined with other disabilities.
This role might include supporting people with:

Day to day activities led by the person you'll be supporting.

Enabling an independent lifestyle.

Accessing a variety of different activities in their home based around their sensory needs, communication preferences and interests.

Personal care and hygiene.

Do you have access to the Hitchin area to support a young lady who enjoys art and socialising? If you do and have 3 hours free per week, we would love to hear from you! It would be great if you also have existing knowledge of British Sign Language but if not, then support will be given – more importantly, we are looking for someone interested in supporting an individual to participate in a variety of activities and to enable them to have a social outlet.
(Adult) Hitchin – 4 hours per week
We have a second person requiring support in the Hitchin area. They enjoy using their support time to access their local library to explore talking books of interest. They have an interest in building model forms of transport, woodwork and the construction side of building. They also enjoy socialising, meeting new people and partaking in activities such as bowling and shopping. If you feel you would be suited to supporting someone to maintain their hobbies, expand their social circle and develop their independence please do get in touch.
(Young person) Ware – 4 hours per week
We have a young adult who likes to have support to build their independence skills around the home with tasks such as cooking and out in the community with their mobility to increase their own independence. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To be familiar with all the procedures, policies and task instructions of the Domestic department and organisation and to adhere to them at all times. In particular:-
a) To carry out a daily cleaning programme, including communal and public areas, ensuring required standards are maintained.
b) To prepare vacated accommodation for re-let, reporting any areas of concern.
c) To collect used bed linen on laundry days and replace with clean.
d) To be responsible for removal and storage of ex-residents’ belongings.
e) To assist with monthly room checks, reporting any maintenance and/or health and safety issues.
f) To assist with additional cleaning/ “spring cleaning” duties as required and requested including other properties managed by the YMCA. - To carry out other duties that reasonably fall within the scope of the post:-
a) Responding to emergencies / crisis
b) Attendance at meetings deemed appropriate by the Services Manager.
c) Participation in training and supervision.
d) You must work constructively with other departments within the YMCA Cardiff Group.
e) Assisting with jobs that usually fall to another member of staff, but in whose absence, failure to carry out the work would present a risk or offence to others or would be detrimental to the Associations ’ service provision.
f) To be able to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.

Company Stage Manager
Storyhouse are looking to recruit a Company Stage Manager to be part of our 2026 Open air season of Storyhouse in the Park at Grosvenor park. You will have complete oversight of the production and be the key contact and manager for all company and staff.
You will join the Stage Management team alongside two Deputy Stage Managers and an in house Assistant stage manager who will be working on three productions running in rep. Each production has an initial rehearsal week, followed by split rehearsals. You will also have support from a props supervisor, who will assist with sourcing and organising props.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the creative team, production team, and the wider Storyhouse staff, and you will report directly to the Producer.
Salary: UK theatre Equity Subsided theatre agreement MRSL 3
Dates: Mon 11 May – 23 August 2026
Hours: Standard hours are 43 hours per week during rehearsals and tec, and 40 hours per week during show weeks. Any hours worked outside these parameters will be paid as overtime.
