The Assistant Principal – Growth and Income Diversification will provide vision and strong leadership across the College, working with faculties and curriculum teams to increase their alternative income. The role will require professional liaison between different teams, businesses and other organisations within their relevant sectors, to drive up commercial and other revenues. This liaison will also support the curriculum to ensure their sector specific knowledge is up to date and relevant.
The postholder will have responsibility for the College’s Communications and Marketing Team, which covers all aspects of internal and external communications and marketing, including recruitment, PR, Media, Advertising, the College’s internet and intranet and leading key events such as Graduation, Summer Awards, Freshers, Open Days, Recruitment Fayres, etc.
One of the Assistant Principal – Growth and Income Diversification’s initial priorities is to support the College in designing and implementing a supporting structure that ensures the function is equipped with appropriately skilled and experienced staff, enabling the College to effectively drive sustainable income growth and diversification.

Key Responsibilities
- Further develop and enhance the systems and processes which support growth and income diversification, including growing staffing resources in this area on a cost neutral basis.
- Develop and implement a Growth and Income Diversification Strategy informed by national policies which is effective and responsive and supports curriculum and commercial portfolio development.
- Work with faculties and curriculum teams to focus on alternative income generation, supporting colleagues to identify, develop and exploit business and other income generation opportunities, achieving agreed contribution levels.
- Working with colleagues across the College, the Assistant Principal will enhance and maximise strong collaboration with business, local and regional stakeholders and national agencies to ensure that our curriculum teams develop the skills training and qualifications required to achieve and sustain positive outcomes in the fast-moving economy.
- Seek and identify funding opportunities that the College could access and leverage by maximising our specialist knowledge, expertise and links with a wide range of businesses, stakeholders, and our university partners, including grants and donations.
- Develop and manage employability, enterprise, business start-up and knowledge transfer activities.
- Establish and grow collaborative regional and national multi-agency partnerships to support the College’s externally funded activities, liaising with relevant funding bodies both public and private to secure diverse and increased funding.

Introduction to the science
Cells behave like tiny cities packed with activity, where every resident has a job, a neighborhood, and a network of contacts. Cancer is more than just a group of abnormal cells. Tumors actually build their own little ecosystem inside the body, influencing immune cells, blood vessels, and surrounding tissues to help them survive and spread. I find it fascinating how cancer can reshape its environment and even trick the immune system into ignoring it.
In Aleksey Chudnovskiy’s lab, we study this tumor microenvironment to understand how cancer and immune cells interact. We use different cutting-edge techniques to see which cells are inside a tumor and how they communicate. By figuring out which cells help the tumor and which ones try to fight it, we hope to find new ways to support the immune system and stop cancer from spreading.
Our goal is to better understand how tumors work in the body so we can help design future treatments that target cancer more effectively.
About the project
In this project, you will study how the immune system interacts with pancreatic tumors. This is a very aggressive cancer, and part of the reason it’s so hard to treat is that tumors create an environment that stops immune cells from attacking them. We want to understand how immune cells behave in this environment and which signals control their activity.
You will get hands-on experience with techniques used in our lab. This may include preparing tumor and immune cells, staining them with antibodies, and analyzing them by flow cytometry to identify different cell types. You may also help with imaging tumor tissues to see where different cells are located and how they interact.
Your work will help map how immune cells respond to pancreatic tumors and how the tumor environment changes during cancer progression. This will give insights into which cells or pathways could be targeted to improve immune responses against PDAC. You will learn practical lab skills, data analysis, and experimental design during your work experience.
Candidate background
The post holder should embody and demonstrate the Crick ethos and ways of working: bold, open and collegial. The candidate must be registered at a UK Higher Education Institution, studying in the UK and must have completed a minimum of two years’ undergraduate study in a relevant discipline, and on track to receive a final degree grade of 2:1 or 1. In addition, they should be able demonstrate the following experience and key competencies:

Corseford College is seeking to appoint a team of student support workers who will provide care and support to students. The support you will provide is essential to ensuring our students can access their learning program.
The role of a Student Support Worker will vary, meaning no two days will be the same. From supporting the delivery of teaching, and learning as well as helping to support individuals with learning programmes and learning materials appropriate to the needs of the students.
Students at Corseford College will have a range of care and support needs. The needs of the students vary, some will be identified as having severe or profound multiple learning disabilities. They may also have physical and sensory impairments or a range of communication difficulties. Our students will have a range of support needs including in some cases requiring a high level of personal and intimate care needs which need to be met. This might include, administering medication, epilepsy management, gastrostomy feeding, moving and assisting and mealtime assistance. Corseford College is Scotland’s first specialist college providing post-school education to this cohort.
