Job Description Job Title: Location: Contract Duration: Salary: Hours of Work: Independent Sexual Violence Advocate Based in Barnsley town centre Initially to March 2027, potential for extension subject to funding £29,869 per annum, increasing to £30,811 upon successful completion of ISVA accreditation 37 hours per week This post is open to female applicants only * About BSARCS In 1987 a small group of women from a variety of backgrounds came together on a voluntary basis with the aim of developing a support service for women and girls in Barnsley. Two years later, they opened a helpline service for women who had experienced sexual harm, initially operating on a very limited budget and for two hours a week, with no premises of their own and the bare minimum of equipment. In the years since then BSARCS has grown beyond recognition and in the year 2024/25 we provided specialist therapy, advocacy and support to around 1500 women, men and children who have experienced sexual violence or harm as well as to their relatives. In the same year, we also delivered specialist training courses to over 800 professionals in the borough. BSARCS is governed by a Board of Trustees and currently has around 30 individuals working from our Barnsley premises, including our CEO, Business Support Team, Training & Development Team, Adult Services and Children’s Services. We also have a team of volunteers supporting our work. About the role South Yorkshire Sexual Violence Partnership (SYSVP) is made up of four specialist sexual violence partners in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to deliver a regional ISVA service, commissioned by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA). Each partner employs Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVA) to deliver advocacy, practical and emotional support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse, both within and outside of the criminal justice system. You will be joining an existing team and will provide high quality support and advocacy to children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse or harm, and to their families, using a trauma informed approach. We are proud that our services meet the national ISVA quality standards and will require the successful applicant to complete the ISVA development programme at the first available opportunity, if they haven’t already done so. Overall job responsibility:
- Provide staple meals for residents.
- Work with the support team to engage with residents around their physical health and wellbeing of diet and nutrition.
- Oversee the daily running of the in-house catering provided by Apetito including heating and serving of Apetito meals on a daily basis.
- Oversee the daily preparation of lunch and supper meals including meals not provided by Apetito on a daily basis.
- Ensure the residents have a person-centred approach with regards to their meal choices and that their dietary needs are taken into consideration when planning menus.

An opportunity to join our team at Copper Beech Day Nursery registered GOOD with OFSTED to provide Early Years care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
Key responsibilities: Under leadership of Nursery Manager and Nursery Supervisor, the successful candidate will work as part of the team to provide safe, high-quality education and care for all children that attend the setting. To share in the planning and delivery of the EYFS by providing creative and appropriate educational opportunities for all children within an inclusive environment. In addition, assume responsibility for the running of the room in the absence of the Nursery Supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure childcare knowledge and skills are kept up to date, taking note of all new policies and procedures
- Ensure daily risk assessments are carried out and conduct risk assessments as required
- Show prospective parents around nursery
- Share responsibility for the guidance and development of any students within the setting
- Share responsibility for ensuring all planning is complete to a high standard and is beneficial to the children’s development
- Keep administrative procedures up to date and accurate, record all incidents appropriately
- Ensure that nursery is clean and hygienic at all times, ensure that daily cleaning is done, and any other cleaning as required
- Attend training as seen appropriate some of which may be out of nursery hours
- Delegate responsibility and duties to staff when required
- Undertake other duties as required for the effective running of the nursery
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
- A full and relevant Level 3 qualification
- At least 2 years’ experience of working in an Early years/Childcare setting
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge around safeguarding principles and procedures
- Confident with IT - including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army

As a Wellbeing Practitioner for our Redcar and Cleveland Wellbeing Service, you will be responsible for delivering holistic support to people, supporting them to foster self-empowerment to maintain their emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing. Your role will involve helping people to talk through their current situation and difficulties, uncover and re-evaluate their strengths, and put tools and plans in place to work towards their goals. You will also be required to deliver information and support outreach sessions, and to facilitate support groups.
Overview
As a Wellbeing Practitioner, you will:
- Work in partnership with external agencies to support clients.
- Promote client and public involvement in shaping services.
- Participate in training and development as required.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving service needs.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field
Relevant degree in health, social care, or education
Experience in mental health support, including 1:1 and group work
Main Responsibilties
- Client Support: Provide structured emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, promoting wellbeing and recovery.
- One-to-One Work: Conduct assessments, develop personalised support plans, and monitor outcomes in line with the Wellbeing Service model.
- Group Facilitation: Deliver peer-led sessions, focus groups, and training to raise awareness and build resilience.
- Community Engagement: Encourage clients to participate in community activities, learning, volunteering, or employment.
- Peer Support: Support the development of peer-led initiatives within services.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and the Service Manager to deliver high-quality, person-centred services.
- Safeguarding & Confidentiality: Adhere to safeguarding, data protection, and confidentiality policies at all times.
- Service Development: Contribute to service planning, evaluation, and improvement through client feedback and outcome monitoring.
- Administration: Maintain accurate records, manage your diary, and complete administrative tasks efficiently using the Mind case management system.
- Information & Signposting: Provide informed, friendly support and signposting via phone, email, and in person.
- Training Delivery: Lead or support mental health awareness sessions for partner organisations.
