Visiting Fellowships 2026-27 (Non-Stipendiary)
The College proposes to elect one or more visitors to Oxford to Visiting Fellowships for all or part of the academic year 2026-27.
The Fellowships, which are for those who already have full financial support, are for (i) internationally outstanding scholars; and (ii) individuals of very significant academic, intellectual, professional or artistic distinction.
There is no limitation upon the field of study. There are no restrictions on age or career stage, but preference would normally be given to candidates who have between 5 and 15 years of post-doctoral research experience or equivalent as appropriate to their field, with appropriate allowance taken for career breaks. To accommodate the needs of Visiting Fellows with school-age children, start and/or end dates can be flexible.
Visiting Fellowships are intended to provide the visitors with a social, intellectual and academic base within which to meet academics with a broader range of interests than might otherwise be likely within a single Faculty or Department. The Fellows should be based in Oxford for the period of the Fellowships and will actively contribute to, and participate in, the social, academic, intellectual and artistic life of the College.
The Visiting Fellows will be members of the College’s Senior Common Room (SCR) and are warmly encouraged to make use of it. Many Fellows enjoy the SCR as a welcoming place to meet colleagues, and to take part in the informal life of the College. They will be entitled to lunch and dinner free of charge at Common Table, when the kitchens are open. Lunch is served on weekdays and provides a lively opportunity to meet other Fellows, lecturers, staff, and graduate students. High Table dinner currently takes place on four weekdays during term and once or twice a week during the vacation. Participation in these events is entirely optional, but most Visiting Fellows find them a distinctive and enjoyable part of Oxford life.
Fellows are also invited, if they wish, to take part in discussions or events related to their interests such as seminars, talks, or informal conversations with other members of the College. There are no formal obligations, but Visiting Fellows are encouraged to engage with the community in whatever way suits them best.
There is no salary attached to Visiting Fellowships and Visiting Fellows are expected to meet their own visa and medical insurance costs. Accommodation is not provided. The Fellowships are open to persons undertaking academic research or who, in the case of applicants falling under (ii) above, are likely to make a significant contribution to the social, intellectual and/or artistic life of the College.
Awards will not normally be given to candidates who have recently held a Visiting Fellowship at Wadham. Academics seeking a Visiting Fellowship under category (i) above must be academic visitors at the University of Oxford and be able to demonstrate an interesting and credible research project. Applicants falling under (ii) will be assessed according to the contribution they are likely to make to the social, intellectual and/or artistic life of the College during the course of their Fellowship.
Nominations
Nominations are invited from Faculties or Departments, and from individual senior members of the University. The nomination letter should outline the mutual benefits of the association between the candidate and the College and include the following:
Category (i)
• Details of the nominator’s relationship to the applicant;
• A summary of the applicant’s research and intended research whilst in Oxford;
• Confirmation of the dates in which the applicant is visiting Oxford;
• Confirmation that the applicant has, or expects to obtain, formal Visitor Status in their host department for the period of the Fellowship;
• A statement of how the applicant would benefit the College and University.
The letter should also demonstrate the applicant’s willingness and ability to contribute to the intellectual and social life of the College, beyond their own area of research

• A summary of the applicant’s career and intended contribution to the academic, social, intellectual and/or artistic life of the College during the course of their Fellowship;

Program Summary
The PROPEL Africa Project (Pathways to Resilience, Opportunities, Professional Employment and Learning) aims to address the persistent challenge of youth unemployment and underemployment in Liberia, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda. Currently, young people encounter systemic barriers to securing dignified employment, arising from misalignments between skills development and labour market needs, and inadequate access to financial resources. Implemented by JA Africa and Mercy Corps, PROPEL responds to these challenges through a dual approach: equipping underserved youth aged 15–30 with relevant, demand-driven business, employability and life skills, while simultaneously improving the way the labour market works for young people.
Position Summary
The PROPEL Financial Inclusion Specialist leads the design and implementation of strategies and activities across the four countries to improve young people’s access to appropriate financial products and services. This includes providing strategic and technical guidance, planning and managing activities, identifying and managing partnerships with financial service providers (FSPs), and recruiting and managing consultancy support to ensure the availability and use of youth-friendly financial training and tools, and catalyzing market solutions that expand opportunities for underserved youth.
Essential Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead financial inclusion strategy across program countries to enable young people to access, use and benefit from formal and informal savings and credit products, including through digital services and channels
- Conduct market assessments to identify barriers and opportunities for youth financial access.
- Provide technical guidance on youth-friendly financial products and partnerships with FSPs, fintechs, and MFIs.
Program Quality & Innovation
- Ensure financial inclusion interventions align with market systems development principles.
- Support pilots and scale-up of innovative financial solutions.
- Work with the MEAL team to assess financial inclusion outcomes and adjust strategies.
Partnership Management
- Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, regulators, and ecosystem actors.
- Support negotiation of partnership agreements and co-designed interventions.
Capacity Building
- Train country teams and partners on financial inclusion approaches.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and technical support.
Finance & Compliance Management
- In collaboration with the countries operations and finance departments, ensure proper financial management, procurement, administration, human resources and logistics (including transport and asset management) needs of the program are conducted within Mercy Corps’ policy and with the maximum benefit to the program.

Graduate Assistant (Sport) – September 2026 start
The Appointment
From September 2026, we are seeking to appoint a full time Graduate Assistant to live and work in this busy boarding school and to develop and share their sporting expertise as well as to contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school. This is, in the first instance, a one-year appointment and one which involves close working with a range of staff and pupils within the senior school (and possibly within the Lancing Preparatory Schools also).
Job Description
The Graduate Assistant is responsible to the Assistant Head Co-Curricular and the Director of Sport.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coaching of games. Depending on proficiency, the Assistant may be responsible for a School team.
- Assisting Saturday sports fixtures. Depending on proficiency, the Assistant may be required to umpire matches against other schools.
- Some administration work in the School Office will be required.
- Pastoral involvement in the House to which the Assistant is attached, including assisting House staff with evening duties on two evenings a week. In addition, dependent on experience, there may be the opportunity to act as academic tutor to individual pupils.
- Participation in afternoon activities which may entail further games coaching, involvement with the Combined Cadet Force, involvement with “Outreach”, the School’s service to the community project or with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or the Scouts.

We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and Passionate individuals to join our team of Activity Support Workers.
- To support children/younger adults in line with their needs and abilities at activities.
To be able to work with children and/or young adults in a group setting as well as 1:1 in the community - To stimulate the child/younger adult with play activities and social activities in the community.
- To help recreation providers/club leaders develop their skills base with regard to working with disabled children/younger adults, ensuring they are safe and stimulating
- To liaise as appropriate with the child/younger adult and their parents/carers
- To undertake basic care functions for children/younger adult where appropriate (e.g. toileting, help with feeding etc). Moving and handling training will be given.
- To work with club staff when considering appropriate integrated and specialist activities for the child/younger adult.
- To report any developments or concerns about particular children to the leisure provision staff and Line Managers as appropriate
- To provide information to the staff team concerning resources, provision and perceived needs of disabled children/younger adult in South Derbyshire
- To participate in the development of training for play and leisure groups / staff members.
- To participate in Umbrella Volunteer Training
- To support and promote equal opportunities
- To comply with Health and Safety regulations
- To work alongside other professionals on a number of sites
- To attend staff and team meetings and liaise regularly with the team on all aspects of the project
- To complete administration work

Volunteer Class Teacher Our mission is to provide information and support for anyone affected by cancer, offering practical ways of enhancing physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing. The Mulberry Centre (TMC) offers Wellbeing Classes for people with a diagnosis of cancer and their carers. All classes are recognised as having positive benefits and are given with the aim of relieving stress related symptoms through relaxation, improved breathing and increased activity. Time commitment: Regular weekly slot of 1 hr class with admin time – total 90 mins minimum Main Duties • To facilitate 1 weekly class for clients with a cancer diagnosis, carers and bereaved. • Each class teacher needs to be able to adapt the class to the needs of the individual, depending on the client’s condition, as far as is reasonable. • We are offering Wellbeing Classes such as Pilates, Yoga, Seated Yoga & Tai Chi – we are looking for teachers qualified in any of these on addition to dance classes, weights or general exercise. Volunteer Specification We are committed to providing the highest quality of care and practitioners are expected to: ▪ Have studied and qualified at a recognised college/school. ▪ Be a member of their professional body if applicable. ▪ Have personal, professional indemnity insurance. ▪ Consider, or be undertaking, further professional development. ▪ ▪ Must not have had personal experience of cancer (either themselves or a close family member) Ideally have been qualified in their practice and actively practising for one year. or have been bereaved within the preceding two years. • Experience of working with small groups/classes. Support and Training • Class teachers must provide an observed class and attend an induction with the Complementary Therapies Lead prior to starting volunteering. • Class teachers are encouraged to attend meetings and support groups with other members of the therapy team, which are held every three months. • Class teachers will have an initial three-monthly then six-monthly review with the Complementary Therapies Lead. This is a way of monitoring and supporting each other and is informal and confidential. • Networking amongst the wellbeing team is encouraged, for support • Expenses are reimbursed for travel incurred to carry out your volunteering duties. The reimbursement of any other ‘out of pocket’ expenses is subject to prior approval by your Lead. Next Steps • All applicants will be asked to complete a Volunteer Application Form and confidentiality agreement and provide two referees. • Candidates with the appropriate experience/skills for the role for which they have applied will be interviewed by the Lead associated to the role. • References will be taken up on successful candidates. Successful counsellor and therapist candidates will be asked to provide relevant professional documentation including qualifications/certificate to practise, enhanced DBS, membership of professional body and insurance. • All new volunteers will be given role specific induction/training by their Lead and the Mulberry Macmillan Volunteer Lead will provide general induction to the Centre, the general handbook and relevant information pertaining to policies and procedures, and will be asked to sign the Volunteer Agreement, confirming their commitment to the Centre. • Subject to satisfactory references, and completion of documentation an individual may start volunteering and a review will be carried out by their Lead after three months.
