The role of the Employment Specialist is to achieve delivery targets by working with participants to identify employment opportunities and support them into sustainable employment. The participants you’ll work with will mainly require health support needs. You’ll deliver our approach providing person-centred advice and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with referral partners and relevant local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment.
Our ideal candidate will have knowledge or experience of employer needs and employer engagement and experience of working in a target driven environment. We are, however, open to various backgrounds and experiences as we are able to provide superb on-the-job training. We’re not looking for someone who ticks every box, just so long as you have an engaging personality, are comfortable working with a diverse group of people, and can provide a warm and welcoming experience to help our participants in their first steps back into employment.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an individual who can work on their own initiative, have good communication skills, organisational skills and be approachable across all levels, providing tailored employment support to a caseload of up to 20 individuals.
The successful person will require prior experience of delivering programmes within the supported employment sector, as well as the knowledge to report and record individuals progress and achievement.
This role is full time (37.5 hours per week) contracted for up to 5 years.

About the Role
We are currently looking for an Individual Placement Support (IPS) Employment Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis.
Barnsley Recovery Steps IPS team aims to increase the number of people moving into employment from the specialist drug and alcohol services. Employment specialist roles will be co-located within these teams working closely alongside recovery service staff to support a small caseload of service users into employment opportunities.
This is a very interesting, varied and rewarding role. A driving licence would be required for this role as the successful candidate will be expected to travel to other sites, IT equipment and a mobile phone would be provided and be carried on their person to the different locations.
What You’ll Do
An Employment Specialist offers a bespoke employment service to the individual accessing recovery at , career coaching, CV writing, interview techniques, making links with local and national employers, attending job fairs, working across different sites and some community working. To help and support the individual to quickly gain employment as part of their recovery journey.

‘Grandad is as smart and mischievous as the wily spider Anansi, but as they tend the flowers in his beautiful garden can he find a way to tell his granddaughter Abi about his plans to return to his homeland in the Caribbean? Filled with original songs and classic Jamaican folktales, Grandad Anansi is an uplifting tale of love, courage, and the power of letting go.’
Casting:
Abi – Playing age 11yrs old. Intelligent, playful and curious, Grandad Anansi is Abi’s whole world and her best friend. Together, they tell Annasi stories to each other and to the audience as Abi tries to workout what her Grandad is keeping from her….
Requires an actor who can sing and follow simple choreography.
The Grandad Anansi company will consist of a stage manager and two actors. You will tour across Suffolk and the whole company will be responsible for loading/unloading the van and putting the set up/taking it down, at each school. Bringing the magic of live performance to young audiences is incredibly rewarding, but schools touring can be demanding and requires someone who is a resilient team player with a good sense of humour.
Actors will need to hold an Enhanced DBS to undertake this contract. If you do not currently hold an Enhanced DBS dated within the last 3 years, we will raise one for you.
To be eligible for this opportunity you must be aged over 18 years and have trained as an actor or have professional (paid) acting experience. As part of our commitment to supporting and developing local theatre makers, we are particularly interested in hearing from actors with a strong connection to the Eastern region.
Dates
Rehearsals take place in Ipswich, Suffolk from 30th March – 14th April 2026.
Performances in primary schools and community settings across Suffolk from 15th April – 8th May 2026, with final performances on 9th May 2026 at the New Wolsey Theatre.
Fees and Contract
This production is paid at an MRSL Grade 2 Subsidised Theatre rate of £562 per week and artists will be engaged under the terms and conditions of the UK Theatre/Equity Subsidised Theatres agreement, T.I.E. Variation.
Relocation allowance
If the artist normally resides 25 miles or more from the theatre, they will receive a subsistence payment of £235 per week to relocate to Ipswich for the duration of the contract. If they reside 15-25 miles from the workplace, during rehearsals and performances, they will receive a weekly travel allowance, amount TBC.
For artists in receipt of the relocation allowance reasonable travel costs will be paid at the start and end of the contract, to cover their travel costs to and from their home base and Ipswich.
Auditions
The first round of auditions will take place on-line in the week beginning the 26th January 2026. Second round at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich in the week beginning 2nd February, TBC.

Farms for City Children offers children and young people a week in the heart of the British countryside staying on one of our farms, where they are immersed in the natural world of food, farming, and country life. During their stay, they participate in the seasonal tasks of the day: sowing, growing and harvesting in our kitchen gardens, caring for livestock and looking after the land, and a variety of tasks designed to build greater connection with the natural world.
We are looking for a Farm School Leader to join our team on our farm in Gloucestershire. Wick Court is a 50-acre working farm raising pigs, poultry, sheep and cattle. It also houses equine and bees and has a number of important heritage orchards growing perry pears and apples for juicing.
This is a hands-on role, responsible for planning and delivering a productive kitchen garden and leading engaging countryside, food and farming sessions for groups of children at Wick Court
The postholder will create and deliver productive and environmentally sensitive growing in the gardens and orchards. They will be passionate about food quality and provenance and work closely with the kitchen team at the farm. While the role will be responsible for growing at Wick Court, and lead practical management of the garden and orchard and work with volunteers, the postholder will also work with the animals and children, and support estate management as part of the wider farming operations team. The postholder will deliver countryside sessions for visiting children as well helping with daily farming tasks.
As comfortable in wellies in the garden as engaging with visiting children and teachers, this role requires a can-do attitude, an enthusiasm for good food, and a genuine passion for supporting children and young people to access the benefits of nature.
The role requires the ability to undertake work outside of 9 to 5 hours, including some weekend and lone working on a rota basis.
