Two years later, they opened a helpline service for women who had experienced sexual harm, initially operating on a very limited budget and for two hours a week, with no premises of their own and the bare minimum of equipment. In the years since then BSARCS has grown beyond recognition and in the year 2024/25 we provided specialist therapy, advocacy and support to around 1500 women, men and children who have experienced sexual violence or harm as well as to their relatives. In the same year, we also delivered specialist training courses to over 800 professionals in the borough. BSARCS is governed by a Board of Trustees and currently has around 30 individuals working from our Barnsley premises, including our CEO, Business Support Team, Training & Development Team, Adult Services and Children’s Services. About the role South Yorkshire Sexual Violence Partnership (SYSVP) is made up of four specialist sexual violence partners in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to deliver a regional ISVA service, commissioned by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA). Each partner employs Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVA) to deliver advocacy, practical and emotional support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse, both within and outside of the criminal justice system. You will be joining an existing team and will provide high quality support and advocacy to children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse or harm, and to their families, using a trauma informed approach. Some of the core duties include:
- To provide an intensive support and housing management service to a caseload of 9 or 10 clients through proactive floating support.
- To ensure that each client has a comprehensive support plan with achievable goals and outcomes and a robust risk assessment and that both documents will be updated regularly with input of client and other professionals delivering support interventions.
- To provide person centred support to the clients and recognise that they are experts by experience.
- To work with each successful referral to identify interventions that will allow the client to move into the accommodation, sustain their home, and identify and plan for the factors/ challenges that might destabilise their tenancy.
- Supporting clients with benefit applications, affordability assessments and repayment plans.
- To conduct regular visit to the accommodation and support the clients with practical skills such as budgeting, cleaning, etc
- To ensure that the clients will engage with agencies providing support with addressing needs such as substance misuse, offending, accessing education, employment and training.
- To ensure that clients are encouraged to engage in meaningful activities.
- To ensure that the properties are safe and compliant with Health and Safety regulations
- To ensure that internal and external stakeholders and partnership agencies are informed about progress of each client.
- Provide a housing management service for the clients, including dealing with rent arrears, managing anti-social behaviour, dealing with other breaches of the tenancy agreement, serving notices and reporting and ordering any repairs.
- Be aware of early signs of abuse, potential safeguarding and ensure that reporting procedures are followed when Safeguarding is triggered.
- To provide regular reports on the progress of each case.
- To support the client with understanding their move on options and create a realistic move on plan for each client including increasing living skills, preparing for and finding work, move on, budgeting, substance misuse and much more.

About the role

We are looking for someone to join our excellent team on an ad-hoc basis to support a 10 year-old with learning disabilities and provide occasional support for his 6 year old younger brother (who does not have a learning disability).
This is an excellent opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention Team (including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and physiotherapy). The main part of the post is to support a young 10-year-old boy to pursue his hobbies/interests and provide support with learning and communication through play therapy. Direction will be given by parents and full training will be provided on the job.
Applicant will support child using different learning strategies and communication devices (proloquo2go). Opportunities will also be provided to develop skills in using a range of different tools and techniques.
- Duties will include supporting the individual to undertake a variety of social, learning, toileting and physio activities. You may very occasional be asked to carry out light domestic duties, such as tidying toys and tidying 10 year old’s bedroom.

About the Role
To support substance misusers (drug and alcohol) who are street homeless, of no fixed abode or residing in hostels, to access appropriate/ relevant treatment. This role will focus on / have an emphasis on homeless clients and engage with them to create a meaningful treatment plan.
What You’ll Do
Manage a caseload of complex service users, ensuring the inclusion of behaviour change support in relation to rough sleeping and / or begging, as well as reviewing on-going care and treatment and liaising closely with the full range of workers and skills within the multiagency team, including family members and significant others as appropriate
Co-ordinate a proactive solution focused approach to service users identified as vulnerable, marginalised, or hard to engage, providing harm reduction advice, interventions and guidance in an outreach capacity to engage them in drug and alcohol recovery services and interventions.
Conduct triage/screening assessments and comprehensive assessments and manage and review individual risk assessments, risk management plans and safeguarding assessments and plans.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care Working with Substance Misuse Award or equivalent experience.
- Relevant professional qualification e.g. addiction studies, counselling, social work, therapeutic qualification.
