Birmingham Forward Steps is a citywide service delivered collaboratively by Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust working alongside Barnardo's, and other voluntary organisations, operated across 10 districts for children and their parents/ carers from shortly before birth up to the age of five. The service, commissioned by is designed to provide all families of pre-school children with accessible, community-based services in their own homes, GP surgeries, children's centres and a number of other community venues such as places of worship or libraries, with extra help available to those that need it.
Barnardo's is directly managing 4 of those districts and we are seeking to recruit a Full time - 37hours per week – Early Years Outreach Worker for our Doddington Green Children's Centre/Edgbaston Family Hub.
As an Early Years and Outreach Worker, you will be required to:
- Provide and promote Stay & Play sessions for target families that promote child development.
- Provide and promote positive play within the Early Years Foundation Stages for children, and support parents/carers in how they play with their children to encourage good child development.
- Provide crèche facilities for under 5s while their parents/carers participate in parent focused activities/programmes.
- Undertake follow up visits to families who are seen to have not engaged with the service at the Health Visitor mandatory visits.
- Support the delivery of Baby Club activities to meet the health and development needs of children and families who attend.

This role will require you to travel independently across the Edgbaston District therefore you must be flexible and adaptable, particularly in relation to working hours and location. A full driving licence and use of your own vehicle would be an advantage.

The Bridge Foundation: The Bridge in Schools Placement Opportunity for Honorary Child Counsellor/Therapist The Bridge Foundation provides a specialist mental health service for staff, parents, children and families in primary and secondary schools. Honorary Counsellors/ Psychotherapists are asked to carry a caseload of up to 4 sessions per week. There is no remuneration, but in exchange for offering these hours, Honorary counsellors/psychotherapists are given fortnightly clinical supervision with an experienced child therapist, attend school team meetings, and are invited to attend staff clinical meetings and CPD. The clinical hours are arranged at the convenience of the therapist/school. All supervision and service meetings take place each Wednesday morning during term time at the Bridge Foundation. The honorary counsellor/therapist will be based in a school serving a deprived area of the city. S/he will provide counseling/therapy sessions for troubled children/young people who have exhausted the school pastoral support system, and whose emotional needs remain a cause for concern. Case management will be provided by the Bridge therapist in post at the school. . The post will be for up to 1.5 days per week, comprised of 4 sessions in school and half a day to attend supervision and team meetings on a Wednesday morning at the Bridge Foundation. Based at All Saints’ Church, Ockbrook near Derby (Available Full-time, term time only, or part-time)

All Saints’ Ockbrook has a growing congregation of different ages and a desire to bless all those around us. Our worship services are relatively informal, with a music group and variety of leaders and preachers.
Existing weekly activities include Shining Stars, a busy pre-school group, a Wednesday after-school Youth Café, Sunday Night Saints (a lively teenage group), and Rise & Shine (a Sunday morning group for 4 to 12-year-olds). We run a summer holiday club and a youth weekend away, enjoy periodic interactive all age (4ALL) services, and have experimented with breakfast services for families with pre-school children and babies. There are strong connections with the 3 primary schools in our parish, where the children’s coordinator is warmly welcomed to take assemblies and be involved in their activities.
You will have a strong Christian faith, have worked or volunteered with children or young people, and be passionate about encouraging children, young people, and their volunteer helpers. You will be educated to A-Level (or degree standard) or have an equivalent level of experience of working with children and/or young people.
This is available as a full-time position (37.5 hours a week), or as two part-time positions for a children’s coordinator and a youth coordinator (19 hours a week). In both cases, candidates can choose to work 52 weeks a year or 41 weeks a year mainly in term-time. You will receive close support including at the weekly church leadership meetings, and during regular one-to-ones with our vicar.
The salary for a full-time, full-year position is £27,441 with 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays. Salary and holidays will be pro-rata if working part-time and/or fewer weeks.

We are looking for a leader with a vision for nurturing the faith of children and young people and eager to introduce new children, young people and their families to Jesus and to help them find their place in the church.
This involves vision and strategy, supporting and empowering volunteers, effective administration, running groups and events, and being an effective communicator with children, young people, parents, families and carers.
There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a Christian.
Salary: £35,000 – £37,000 pa
Hours: Full time (40 hours a week), to include Sunday mornings, Wednesday mornings for staff meetings, and some Saturdays and evenings. Could be a job share for an established job share partnership.
