Objective/Main Purpose
To lead the Operations Team to deliver the day-to-day operation of St X, thus supporting the delivery of the St X’s Vision and strategy/mission action plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management:
- Lead and line manage the Operations team (staff and volunteers)
- Manage the day-to-day operations of St X, as directed by the Vicar and according to the values, standards, and budgets of the PCC.
- Oversee the smooth running and efficient running of the church office and other administrative resources.
- Support the Vicar and PCC by ensuring correct governance protocols and administrative processes and practices are in place.
- Oversee the development of management information systems and computer systems.
- Ensure correct reporting is in place for external agencies (e.g., Church of England, Charity Commission, Companies House).
HR
- Implement Safer Recruitment process to ensure effective hiring of staff and volunteers
- Maintain accurate personal records for staff as appropriate and according to GDPR guidelines
- Oversee learning and development for all staff as necessary to include compliance training. E.g. Health and Safety; GDPR
- Ensure all staff have regular Performance and Development Reviews (PDR) and personal objectives to deliver the vision and strategy of the church.
- Create and sustain a positive working environment that embodies the culture and values of St X.
- Ensure Volunteer agreements and safeguarding requirements are kept up to date.
Finance
- Work with the Treasurer and finance team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting systems for the benefit of the PCC and the delivery and reporting of the annual accounts.
- Work with the Vicar and budget holders to set and maintain budgets.
- Support the Treasurer/bookkeeper as needed to deliver regular, accurate financial updates as required by the Vicar/PCC.
Buildings
- Oversee the use and maintenance of all church buildings as a resource for the church, including clergy accommodation.
- Ensure correct policies and procedures, applicable to the use of church premises (eg.
Insurance policies; tenancy agreements; health and safety (including risk assessments); safeguarding; GDPR and food hygiene) are in place to and comply with current legislation and good practice. - Meet regularly with users of the building(s) to ascertain needs and check that they are following correct procedure and caring appropriately for the building.
Communications and Events
- Work with the Vicar to establish and deliver a communication strategy
- Work with the Vicar to run events and ensure the safety of all guests.
General
- Attend and contribute to the weekly staff meeting/prayer meeting.
- Offer general assistance as needed in busy periods of the life of the church.
- Welcome and assist as needed visitors to the church, offering prayer as needed.
- Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required by the postholder.

Terms and Conditions:
- 5 hours per week; Monday – Friday (09.00 – 17.00). Homeworking permitted one day per week.

Job Description – Church Planter

Include a few lines here about the vision for growth, mission and multiplication; something about the diocesan strategy or programme (if applicable) of which this church planting opportunity forms a part. Include something about the demographics and context into which you are inviting somebody to plant a church. This information should give people a good flavour of the ‘destination’ of the plant, even if the exact geographic location is unknown.
Include something of how this role will sit alongside the sending church and expectations around training, time spent at the sending church (preparing to plant) before planting out..

- Time spent preparing the ground in the chosen plant location.

To work with the senior leadership of the church to develop a church planting team (comprising lay members of the congregation) and to lead a new church plant within X. The main elements of the role are as follows:

- Lead others in prayer, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, for the new initiative.
- Develop a church planting strategy – team, budget, buildings, location, mission/ministry.
- Explore the area, where the plant is envisaged, to establish local relationships, local needs and assess mission opportunities and ministry requirements prior to church planting.
- Budget planning and fundraising to support the church plant.
- Develop a planting team that will go with the planter to support the new initiative.
- Identify, recruit and develop leaders to oversee key ministry areas.
- Identify an appropriate venue/building in which to meet and oversee necessary building works (if applicable).
- Establish midweek activities/evangelistic events that make new disciples in the new location.
- Lead or oversee others in leading discipleship initiatives.
- Work with Senior Leader to plan regarding the timing of the launch of the new church and the necessary communications around this to the wider congregation/PCC etc.
- Lead a planting team out of the sending church to launch and establish a new church/worshipping community to reach the largely unreached/unchurched in the planting location.
- Line Management responsibility (lay volunteer, staff) for ministry leaders.

Job Description – Associate Vicar

Duties and Responsibilities:
Discipleship
- Developing a vision for becoming a disciple-making church

- Overseeing & multiplying small groups as a primary vehicle for discipleship
Staff and Line Management
- Lead the staff team in collaboration with the Vicar
- Line management of employed staff and key volunteers (setting objectives, managing performance, overseeing development, pastoral care)
- Train and develop ordinands and curates, preparing them for ministry.
- Contribute as necessary (dependent on experience and gifting) to staff training and development.
Pastoral Care
- Work with small group leaders to develop home groups as primary source of pastoral care for members.
- Develop and oversee welcome teams, events and processes (cradle to grave).
- Develop pastoral care initiatives as appropriate.
- Lead and work closely with Pastoral Care Team to support those in crisis/bereaved etc. e.g oversee home visiting/communion.
Leading St X
- Leading St X, under the authority of the vicar, taking full responsibility in the absence of the Vicar or when the Vicar isn’t available.
- Preach, teach and lead Sunday services and other church gatherings as required.
Strategy
- Along with the Vicar and PCC assist with the development of the vision and strategy (Mission Action Plan) for St X.
- Along with the Vicar, hold, develop and communicate the vision for St X (as appropriate/required)
- Help support and lead change initiatives to deliver the vision and implement strategy as required.
Lead (specific ministry areas depending on experience, interest and gifting)
