The Board of Trustees is the highest decision making body at the Students’ Union and is ultimately responsible for making decisions that impact the overall direction and success of the Students’ Union. The role of Student Trustee is pivotal on the Board of Trustees, providing the perspective of the student body and ensuring that grass-roots student opinion is feeding decision making at the highest level within the Students’ Union. Student Trustees actively participate in governance and decision making processes that contribute to the overall student experience at Surrey.

This is a voluntary position that provides you with a high level of oversight and experience. The Board meets 5 times a year, and also runs a selection of sub-committees which meet between 1 and 3 times a year depending. The time commitment is moderate, but the rewards for being involved are high, considering the experience you would gain of strategic decision making, scrutinising papers and problem solving.

Student Voice Assistant
Student Voice Assistant
Rate of pay: £12.21 per hour (Students' Union level 1 rate).

The Union’s Voice Team is responsible for ensuring that all students can have their feedback about their university experience heard, leading to the changes they want to see. We are recruiting Student Voice Assistants to help with the running of our projects like Course Reps, Equality Networks, and Speak Week. This role is an exciting opportunity to support the work of the Voice Zone and help ensure all students have the opportunity to give feedback about their university experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- To work with the Student Voice team to support a range of projects, campaigns, and events.
- To assist with general administration to support Voice Zone staff, including basic data management and liaising with staff and students via email when required.
- Support our Course Rep and Student Equality Network schemes through general project administration and communication with volunteers.
- Work closely with the Union’s Voice Zone officer team to support them in delivering their manifesto projects and in communicating with students about their activity and achievements.
- Research and produce accurate reports, briefings, and presentations, and writing up meeting notes, agendas, and minutes.
- To assist with the planning and delivery of Voice Zone events, including attending relevant Voice Zone and wider Union events or activities when required.

The Union’s Communications Team is responsible for ensuring students are aware of the purpose, activity, and achievements of the Students’ Union. We’re looking for two creative and passionate part-time Communications Assistants to join our team. This role is an exciting opportunity to create engaging written and visual content for the Union’s communications channels.

Key Responsibilities:
- To work with the Communications team to suggest and create engaging student-focused content to be posted on the Students’ Union’s channels, primarily through our social media channels.

Rubix/Manor Park Social Supervisor
Thank you for showing interest in becoming a supervisor starting in September 2025. In order to eligible for this position you must have completed 25 shifts (you can see this on your staff savvy portal) and have the backing of at least 3 current supervisors who may be asked for a reference.
This position will be for anyone wanting to become a supervisor within Rubix or Manor Park Social
The ideal candidate should be able to:
- Display a good knowledge of the operations of the bars around Rubix.
- Have a reasonable level of conflict management skills.
- Explain a broad range of the various Rubix Team Member roles.
Pay is £13.21 an hour
Training includes industry recognised qualifications in Personal License and Customer Service.
If you are successful, you will go through an intensive 6 shift probation period in the new role after training is complete.

Events Assistant

We are excited to be recruiting for Events Assistants to support the Students' Union in organising and hosting our varied programme of events. This role would be based in our Community Zone, with links to the Activity Zone as appropriate.
The Events Assistants will play a key role in supporting the planning, promotion, and delivery of a wide range of student-focused events and activities within Student Union Venues. This is a hands-on, varied role perfect for someone passionate about creating memorable experiences, working in a fast-paced environment, and engaging with the student community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and organisation of events in our on-campus venues, including Rubix, Hari’s Bar, The Front Room, Manor Park Social, and The Lake.
- Support the setup, running, and break-down of events to ensure smooth execution.
- Support event logistics including ticketing, guest lists, access control, venue and technical set ups.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, safeguarding policies, and venue regulations.

Rubix Duty Manager (External)
The Duty Manager plays a key role in the successful operation of Rubix Nightclub, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and well-managed environment for students and guests. They will oversee the nightly running of the venue, manage staff, and uphold the highest standards of customer service, safety, and compliance with licensing laws. To apply you must have at least two years experience in hospitality and must be studying at Surrey in September 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day and night-time operations of the venue, ensuring the smooth running of events.
- Manage and support bar, security, and operational staff, providing leadership and motivation throughout shifts.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and Union policies.

Rubix Cellar Staff/Back of House Supervisor
The Cellar Staff play a crucial role in maintaining the efficient operation of the nightclub’s cellar and bar areas. They ensure that stock levels are managed effectively, equipment is maintained, and the bar staff have everything they need to deliver a seamless service to customers.
