FareShare Yorkshire operates from 3 sites in Barnsley and Leeds delivering Surplus Food Provision services, Employability Programmes and its own cookery school - The FullCrumb Kitchen. The Warehouse Supervisor will provide vital support to all areas of the Charity’s work to achieve our vision - To see an end to Food Insecurity in our Region. “To improve the wellbeing of people in Yorkshire and see an end to Food Insecurity in our region." To do this, the Warehouse Supervisor will: • Drive delivery vehicles across Yorkshire as required • Conduct and document thorough vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance checks across the fleet of company vans to ensure compliance, reliability, and road readiness. • Handle the receipt, sorting, storage, and dispatch of food stock using our IT systems • Supervise and mentor volunteer teams on a daily basis, ensuring a positive and productive environment • Move stock manually, with lifting equipment, or using a forklift truck (if licensed) • Pick and pack orders accurately and load goods for dispatch onto delivery vehicles • Maintain accurate records of stock levels and complete associated paperwork • Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse and work areas through regular cleaning duties • Support the Warehouse Manager, colleagues, and volunteers in daily operations • Cover staff and driver absence at our Leeds sites as and when required. • Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the effective running of the warehouse Skills Required • Full UK driving licence (essential) • A good level of physical fitness • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills • Ability to work efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail • Confidence in completing paperwork, counting stock, and entering data into our system • Strong working knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance, including monitoring tyre pressure, and checking and replenishing oil and coolant levels. • Basic IT/computer skills • Awareness and understanding of health and safety regulations • Honest, reliable, and self-motivated • Accredited forklift truck permits (counterbalance and/or reach) – desirable but not essential, as training will be provided Benefits • Company-contributed pension scheme • 25 days annual leave (pro rata for part-time hours) • Additional day off on your birthday • Free Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), including 24/7 GP access for you and your family • Access to free training and qualifications relevant to your role and professional development • Be part of an organisation that is passionate about its work and the communities it serves • Full training will be provided to the post-holder including: FLT operators permit training, potential QCF in Warehousing & Storage, Manual Handling, Food Safety and First Aid. Main Responsibilities/Accountabilities: • Coordinate and deliver interactive cookery classes within The FullCrumb Kitchen in Leeds and Barnsley, • Deliver training at the approved premises of some of our Yorkshire-based partners. • Ensure equipment, resources, learning materials and ingredients are appropriate • to each class. Implement and maintain strict standards of food hygiene and health & safety in the preparation and cooking of food. • Deliver, track and report on both accredited and non-accredited training (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene), maintaining high standards of delivery and record keeping. • Source ingredients internally and through purchase, with surplus food being the priority around which training is shaped. • Support and work with volunteers. • Establish and maintain eaective links with a wide range of agencies and projects across Yorkshire (private, public and third sector partners as relevant to the furthering of the charity’s work) • Work to guidelines from key stakeholders such as Public Health and the Food Standards Agency, keeping up to date with changes in food policy, strategy and dietary advice. • Contribute to the development of The FullCrumb Kitchen • Co-ordinate with and provide input to colleagues across the charity through forums such as our Extended Management Team and All Team meetings. • Support the growth of The FullCrumb Kitchen’s profile, creating engaging content on social media channels which promotes our classes, the use of surplus food and the charity’s impact. • Produce short recipe videos and digital content to showcase the cooking of surplus food, healthy eating and training opportunities. Essential • Experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering cookery classes / demonstration events for diverse groups. • Demonstrable training experience. • Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards. • Ability to engage and work appropriately with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for reports, publicity materials, and external liaison. • Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle. • Willingness to undergo a DBS check prior to employment and throughout service as required. Strategic Development & Representation: • Work in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure Food is moved in and out quickly and that the operation has as much good quality surplus as possible for redistribution. • Contribute to strategic planning discussions around food provision and community engagement. • Represent warehouse operations and community support needs in internal meetings and planning sessions. • Work collaboratively with other FareShare Yorkshire teams and external partners to maximise the social impact of surplus food. Administration & Management: • Supervise, train, and support sta9 and volunteers on a daily basis to encourage high morale and strong teamwork. • Deliver relevant inductions and ensure all team members are adequately trained and supported. • Maintain clear communication with the SLT and other support teams to ensure operations run e9ectively, e9iciently, and compliantly. • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested to support the wider goals of the Charity.
