Position
The role of our North Tyneside Support Workers:
Would you like an exciting new experience supporting a young person to move from a hospital setting, into their own home in North Shields?
You would be working with a vibrant young woman in her 20s living in Wallsend who enjoys expressing herself through creative outlets like dance, arts and crafts, and exploring different hairstyles and makeup. She has a great sense of humour, once she gets to know you, and loves Disney movies. This person is currently learning sign language and enjoys teaching it to others. While she can be reserved at first, she has a strong personality and benefits from a consistent, nurturing approach from her support team.
This role requires a patient and empathetic individual who can provide person-centered support using active support and positive behaviour support techniques (In line with PROACT SCIPr-UK® whole approach). The ideal candidate will be passionate about empowering the person to develop her independence and life skills, while also ensuring her safety and wellbeing. You'll work as part of a dedicated team to help her access the community, pursue her interests, and work towards her personal goals.
Requirements
Experience our Support Workers need:
- Trauma Informed Support.
- Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
- PROACT SCIPr-UK training.
- Autism and Learning Disability awareness.
- Personality Disorder.
- Epilepsy.
- Eating and Swallowing difficulties.
- Innate ability to be compassionate and patient.
- Commitment to person-centred care and empowering individuals through Active Support.
- Previous experience with supporting individuals with complex needs, for example; epilepsy, mental health conditions, learning and physical disabilities.
- A clear written and verbal communication technique, along with basic IT skills and numerical ability.
- A full UK driving licence is preferred.

- Competitive hourly rate of £12.30.
- Expected hours: 16 – 37 per week.
- Schedule: day shift, night shift, Monday to Friday, weekend availability.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER- Part time

About the Role:
You’ll work in the community, starting with shorter support sessions. Activities might include:
Going for coffee or shopping.
Attending creative workshops or horse visits
Watching horror films, or just chatting
Exploring new hobbies and safe spaces in the community, etc.

We are looking for Mental health support workers who can provide flexible, person-centred support to young adults aged 18–25, many of whom present with a range of complex needs. The role requires a confident, empathetic professional who can work effectively using restorative practice approaches, build trust, and promote positive outcomes while maintaining appropriate boundaries and safeguarding standards.
