Treasurer (Trustee position)
We are seeking a dedicated Treasurer to join our board of trustees to help support our work support vulnerable people across society.
Who We Are
Causeway supports marginalised and vulnerable people to recover from trauma and develop safe and fulfilling futures. Our Modern Slavery and Crime Reduction services include safe houses, outreach, community programmes, holistic crisis interventions and signposting into counselling, training and employment.
We drive change nationally through research, campaigning and strategic partnerships. Causeway’s four crime reduction services provide crime and violence reduction programmes for those committed to breaking their cycle of criminality. Our trauma-informed approach to supporting those who commit crime has proved successful in reducing rates of reoffending, which not only benefits the individuals involved, but reduces the number of victims and creates a safer society for all.
Role Summary

Our trustees bring strategic oversight and direction; to ensure Causeway is true to its purpose and effective in its strategic objectives, whilst ensuring all governance responsibilities are fulfilled. They champion the people we support, promote the charity and its work and bring expertise to purposefully develop Causeway and its impact.
Who are we looking for?
Causeway are looking to recruit a Treasurer to the Board who is willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and support the strategic growth of the charity. We are particularly looking for our Treasurer to have:
- A relevant accounting qualification.
- Experience of charity accounting and relevant accounting standards.
- Ability to maintain overview of the financial affairs of the charity, ensuring its viability and proper financial records and procedures.
- A confident networker who will bring relevant connections and facilitate introductions for the benefit the charity.
- Experience in working with a Charity Board and subcommittees.
- Someone with at a minimum of two years governance experience
It is important that trustees reflect our geographical reach in the North, and that we have diversity of knowledge, experience and background on the trustee board. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Anti-trafficking Advocate for Survivors of Modern Slavery. In this role you’ll key-work service users living within the North West. This role includes providing service users with emotional and practical support; advocating on their behalf, communicating with other organisations including but not limited to health professionals, legal representation and the Home office.
The successful candidate can either be based in Liverpool or Manchester with weekly travel across the North West region. A drivers license is not required.
Responsibilities:

Providing casework support for Survivors Of Human Trafficking across the North West region, signposting them to relevant organisations and support networks in the community.

Each full time Advocate will oversee 16-20 service users of varying levels of support need (or pro rata equivalent if a part-time role)

To work effectively as a team, including giving responsive feedback and handover information to Line Manager, and colleagues where there is a shared caseload.

To independently meet deadlines, including accurately recording and logging support hours, documenting relevant service users information and completing other administrative paperwork in adherence to the terms of the contract.

To risk assess and take appropriate steps to safeguard clients.

To follow ECAT requests and meet KPIs set by contractors.

Ensuring all service users receive the full protection/support of the EU convention, as laid out in article 12 of the ECAT.

To arrange appointments for individual service users, and liaising with organisations and individuals regarding clients in a professional manner.

Visiting service users face to face (where suitable) a minimum of once a month, taking into account what is reasonable to meet that service user’s needs.

Meeting service users in an appropriate environment, including using remote sessions where needed.

To ensure the progression of service users through the system, including journey planning and move on strategies, within the required time frame.

To regularly attend supervision meetings with Line Manager.

Adhering to all internal procedures regarding Causeway and any legislation.

Promoting Causeway in adherence to the terms of the contract – this may include attending events on behalf of Causeway as a whole
Any other duties that are commensurate with the role.
