Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS/Teaching Licence/Certification or equivalent)
  • 2 or more years of post-qualification experience teaching Music at secondary/Upper School level is highly desirable
  • Experience preparing students for performances, examinations, and/or music qualifications
  • Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products
  • Ability to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning
  • Experience teaching in an international school is desirable but not essential
  • Professional level of verbal and written English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students within a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured music lessons across the Upper School curriculum
  • Develop students’ musical understanding through performance, composition, listening, analysis, and creative exploration
  • Promote strong student progress and outcomes through effective assessment and meaningful feedback
  • Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of the music curriculum
  • Support students in preparing for concerts, recitals, productions, examinations, and other performance opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and share high-quality teaching and learning resources
  • Foster a genuine love of music and encourage students to pursue their musical interests beyond the classroom
  • Support students requiring additional assistance, working closely with support staff to meet individual learning needs
  • Engage fully in professional development and contribute to the school’s pastoral care programme
  • Contribute to and support the school’s extra-curricular music programme, including ensembles, clubs, and performances
  • Undertake other duties as required to support the smooth and effective running of the school
