Are you looking for your next senior finance role in a well-resourced, forward-thinking organisation?
St Edward’s School in Oxford is seeking a skilled and hands-on Finance Manager for its finance operations team. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, varied environment where your expertise directly supports operational and strategic decision-making, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for.
About the RoleThis role offers exposure to a wide range of financial activities, the opportunity to develop professionally, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution within a collaborative and forward-thinking organisation.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be involved with management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, cashflow, audit preparation, VAT and Tax, and regulatory reporting. The school’s operations are diverse and complex, with an annual turnover of approximately £40 million and activities spanning education, estates, catering, IT, commercial ventures and fundraising. You will be working closely with senior leaders and departmental managers to provide clear, timely financial insight that supports effective planning and delivery.
About YouWe are open to hearing from candidates across a broad range of experience levels. This role could suit any of the following:
- A newly qualified accountant with 3–4 years’ post-qualification experience looking to broaden their skillset and step into a more senior finance position
- An experienced, fully qualified finance professional seeking a diverse finance role
- A candidate qualified by experience with a strong track record in a similar finance position
- A part-qualified accountant who is actively studying towards a professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and has relevant experience. (For part-qualified candidates, we can offer a comprehensive training and development package.)
Responsibilities and reporting lines for this role may be adapted to reflect the successful candidate’s experience and qualification level, ensuring appropriate support and development and a clear pathway into a fully qualified Finance Manager role over time.
You will need to be confident managing multiple workstreams and comfortable rolling up your sleeves. A background in the independent or education sector is welcome but not essential. What’s important is that you combine strong technical capability with sound judgement, a calm and organised approach, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues from across the organisation.
