The program will be delivered in the communities of Divo, Gagnoa, Oumé and Lakota—and strives to increase economic resilience for cocoa farmer households and decrease their living income gap. The approach includes assessing each farm’s condition through Adoption Observations (“AOs”), supporting each farmer in understanding how to improve their yield in a regenerative manner based on AO results, ongoing coaching support, livelihoods support that targets both cooperatives and households, and cash incentives. A robust data system is used in both implementation and for monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

Working with the cocoa company’s producers and traders, the project will implement conditional cash payments for 5,000 farming households and livelihood strategies for 5 cooperatives in Côte d’Ivoire, while promoting sustainable farming practices. Specifically, the postholder will ensure projects outcomes, outputs and activities are delivered on time, to a high standard, in line with internal protocols and donor requirements, and builds upon learning of the first HIAP project currently running in country and best practices.
